Hmmm, I don’t have any interest in Predaking so I’ll be skipping that if it’s true. Hopefully other standalone releases are coming our way as well. I’m not one to act like the sky is falling so I’m not gonna start now, but it is what I was talking about. If the entire year and a half is tied up with things I won’t buy, it’s a wash for me personally. I’ll be happy other people can fill that spot in their collection, just like I was with Raiden and maybe all of the Ginrai releases. I’m still not sure if I’m diving in on that one.

I would imagine things continue the way they currently are, with them alternating between combiner and non-combiner releases. The only difference would be that combiner members will no longer have consecutive numbering. Didn’t the Chinese source also mention that releases in general would start getting sped up? Maybe it was @Pixelmaster that mentioned that.

Interesting bit about releases being sped up. It’s possible they’ve been sitting on a few and waiting for the right time to release. We know Cliffjumper has been developed and hard copies are floating around. If that isn’t coming soon, I’d be shocked. Blaster is another example of one that I feel has been developed since we got one of his cassettes years ago. That was kind of a big deal at the time, but that chatter died out after a while.

So Predaking is rumoured to be the next MP combiner over Devestator?!

Yes, Hasbro will be making a SS86 Devastator next year and they won't want a MPG Devastator coming out at the same time to compete with each other. Predaking fought Raiden numerous times in the Headmasters cartoon, so he is the logical choice to follow Raiden in MPG.

Honestly the main thing I hope Takara gets to is a new batch of coneheads to go with the MP-52 seekers. There are decent options for Jazz and Cliffjumper and Mirage for folks that aren't Takara-exclusive collectors, but I feel like Dirge could have a shiny new getup for all those bad days he's bound to have. Sideswipe is the other mold that most needs a new version, I think. After that it's a bit more debatable.

I am not convinced they're speeding things up unless they announce three new molds in the next event.

MPG runs are smaller than the normal MPs. If the talk of them trying to move things to the big shops is true and they want to use the weakened yen to their advantage, use the fact that enthusiasm for the line is bigger outside Japan than in. For us the prices have been pretty favorable. The $130ish shipped I've been paying for most releases, is what I played for Hound 5 years ago and pre shipping hike and inflation.

Coneheads, yes. I would rather see the carbots finished before we get to redoing characters like Sideswipe. Having said that, if it looked better than the first one, I’d buy it. I have also been clamoring for a Soundwave 2.0, so I get it.

Where is that info coming from that MPG runs are smaller? I think the yellow trains had smaller runs but I don’t see any other evidence for smaller runs on the rest. If anything I thought the MPG figures had higher runs because they are more available to buy. Either that or the cynics are correct and MPG trains are not selling as well as TT hoped.

I'm not big on the Coneheads, but I would love a V2 of the Rainmakers along with other Seekers that have not had an MP release.
I also would like to see Takara finally release MPs for the Aerialbots, and not just those who make up Superion.

That being said, Takara needs to first release MPs for Jazz, CJ, and Mirage.
From MP Jazz ww could get MPs G2 Jazz, Stepper/Ricochet.
From CJ, I 'd love an MP Tap Out, and then an MP Glyph from the G1 MP Bee mold.

We still need MP Windcharger, Blaster and Cosmos.

Sideswipe definitely needs a V2 MP.

I can't wait for... oh, we'll be conservative and say 2031... when I can finally have both SS86 and MPG completed on the shelf and compare them. Right off the bat, I'm going to guess these major differences:
    • SS86 will be cartoon-accurate, MPG will be toy/toon-accurate hybrid
    • MPG will be licensed vehicles, SS86 won't be
    • SS86 will be taller, MPG will be shorter, neither will be as tall as CW/UW
    • SS86 will cost approximately $230, MPG will cost approximately $700
Spelling it out like that, it almost seems like they wouldn't compete with each other were they to release simultaneously. But then of course it would be just green, green, green for a looong time...

Absolutely none of this would shock me, and if this were to happen, it SS86 would be my stand in until I could afford a better option, lol.
