They could but usually when they swing back it’s for the core favorites, 1 of which is Megatron. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Prime done over in less time than it took for MP-44 to show up after MP-10. This is all speculation on my part, I haven’t heard anything from sources. Seems to me that the core characters are being used to showcase big advances while the releases inbetween have gradual/incremental/progressive improvements.

For MP Prime we’ve already seen the following:
    • MP-01(modern)
    • MP-10(hybrid)
    • MP-44(modern)
We’ve yet to see a full on modernized take on the G1 toy version of Optimus Prime. Paint apps to replicate the stickers would look tacky IMO, like the cylinders on Prime’s forearms shown by the original stickers. I imagine an MP take on that would have flush forearms at the tops when in truck mode that twist around to reveal cylinders in robot mode. Possibly most importantly, I think an MP take on the original G1 toy Optimus would have a transformation heavily based on it without the 180 torso twist a lot of modern G1 Prime-based toys are known for. I imagine G1 toy styling, G1 toy details(raised/molded surfaces > paint/stickers), balanced proportions and full articulation. You can’t retool MP-10/44 to pull this off without heavily retooling to the point where you might as well start from scratch.

Oh, I think he's right. A new simpler Megatron that's also cleaner with fewer panel lines and seams all over the place will be essential in the coming years when we have more figures like MP-52 and MP-36 starts to look dated. They'll revisit Bumblebee again too, eventually, and give us a cleaner figure than MP-45.

As for a new Optimus Prime, it will happen eventually but I'm more of the opinion it will be later rather than sooner because I think they'll hit Ginrai first. Whether they do a Super Ginrai and then a Godbomber as a separate release, or throw it all into the same Titan-sized box, it should satiate the need for a big red tractor trailer for several years.

I'm surprised we still haven't gotten a second run on MP-44

I think we need a new Prime....

The XTB one is looking pretty good, looking a little to lanky because of the trailer, but its a safe bet we see Ginrai in the near future. Won't be next year though, I already don't think Galvatron is going to be possible simply because of Raiden and Skyfire.

Megatron v3 is something that will be almost certainly be happening sometime soon, our current representation of megs was released 4 years ago and it is certainly showing its age PSX_20210702_040535.jpg especially when it's alongside recently MPs like starscream.

but if they do, and somehow it looks as good as 52 does compared to 11, then I'm all in!

I disagree. I might have been satisfied with Starscream V1.5, but I feel that MP-52 went too far with the lack of detail and contrast. It looks like a Playskool toy, and it’s not something I would find appealing even at half the price. Other than the nightmarish transformation, I think MP-36 is fine as it is.

Haha,no. MP 36 is that good and people forget about complexity of design, what works for one doesnt exactly work for another especially with regards to toon accuracy.

Absolutely disagree. If we're talking 5 years from now, then I can see a sliver of possibility. Megatron is still, i'd argue, a top 5 of the entire line. He's still fantastic 4 years later, so having something new after only this long would seem like a complete crapshoot.

Dude they've been saying so since last year!

Every design since MP-36 has been chasing what he achieved...given the complexity of what Megatron's transformation needs to do vs. a seeker, I really don't think it's possible to do a new version that's sufficiently better to warrant an entire new release.

Is it 100% fact that Mirage is going to be a Porsche or that Porsche is allowing Hasbro to use their car in the movie? I only briefly read about it but I can’t remember if it was an airtight story or a maybe story. Legit can’t remember.

Gonna have to agree with others on mp megs. He's still brilliant looking. And I actually like all the panel lines; makes it look like some magic was done to engineer it, which it was
