I could see the Megatron accessory happen or not. They could just be content with the existing one seeing how much life that's had. On the other hand Takara bafflingly omitted it with the MP11s (neutering it on the coneheads). I could see them doing a new Megatron accessory just to have it connect more like the TFC and recent Walmart reissues.

Was also thinking of this one.

 

I feel like a new starscream would have the most facial expressions of any mp.
Possibly an accessory to help him carry mp-36? Like the chest accessory inferno has for red alert

 

Good thinking! I could see something similar coming with Soundwave 2.0, plus one for Rumble to carry the fusion cannon.

 

When is the next event where TT could reveal a new MP?

 

Starscream could also come with a blast effect for Megatron fusion cannon. Let face it, Starscream took more hits from Megatron than 75% of the Autobot army.  

 

I’ve not been on this thread for a few months, but returning now, I am genuinely baffled. Is this what the fandom wants - reversions of all the existing characters? It’s literally just v2 Sideswipe, v2 Soundwave, v2 Seekers and v2 Rodimus Prime that people seem to want. Not wanting a fight or anything, just curious. My take is that I’ve spent a LOT acquiring these guys already. Like for example I have 10 seekers - I don’t want to go through all that again. Personally I’d much rather they moved on to more characters - Blaster and his tapes; Skids; Galvatron would be my guess as to what could be released soon. But I guess most of you guys disagree? You’d rather they redid stuff first?

 

Completely sympathize. Only reason I want a new Rodimus Prime is because the MP-9 was such a bad figure. I want a better one. Also want a new Starscream because of what we saw with MP-44...

... But yes, bring on Galvatron, it's more than past time! Bring on Blaster! Bring on more!

 

Me personally, I definitely think the seekers need a redo. In 2019 they are among the least appealing of the whole line. I think Sidewipe’s plus version is just fine. Same with Soundwave. I don’t even think he needs a repaint. He’s fantastic. Of course I would take new characters over any repaints or version 2s. That being said, Prime and Bumblebee look pretty great to me. I’m open to anything they throw at us

 

Nope, I agree with you.

But I do think we will eventually see a new Starscream, Rodimus Prime and probably Grimlock. Maybe Soundwave too, so we might as well get used to the idea. Personally, I don't mind, as FansToys will pick up Takara's slack.

 

The Seekers have made sense to redo for a while now since they use an old mold, are among the less show accurate figures, and their leg articulation has long been sub par (and at this point the bar for articulation has gotten higher).
As for Rodimus he's long been clamored for and since MP10 was designed around him but has now had yet another redo AND since we've had a dedicated Hot Rod(imus) for some time there's a genuine niche to be filled.

The Lambos have come into play purely for their level of show accuracy since they're a bit more toy/"real world" proportioned plus the fact that Red Alert's animation model actually differs more from Sideswipe that just the wheels and head (and after Grapple it's clear that they're now willing to keep a bare minimum parts between old mold mates to make them more unique.)
As for Soundwave.....that one I'm not sure about to be honest. There's not much to do with him but I guess rounder proportions are a thing.
Personally I don't care for any redoes (though would not mind a new set of Seekers and would expect that they'd have more retail releases this time compared to the MP11s).
I also don't think the flow of new bots is gonna stop either or be overtaken by redoes. They've still got hound upcoming and I'm sure they have stuff for various sizes across the main seasons (never mind the MPMs, BW now expanding to BWII, and goodness knows what other pleasant surprises they have in store.)

The next show is the All Japan Model & Hobby Show, September 27-29. This is the show where they did the famous double reveal of MP-28 Hot Rod and MP-29 Shockwave back in 2015. Not saying that will happen again, but...

When the line took the next leap forward in articulation and price, my interest in owning anyone outside of the Diaclone- and Microchange-originated 1984-1985 cast evaporated. To me those are the characters most deserving of Masterpiece treatment, and most deserving of the highest level of articulation and engineering possible. So I do want newer versions of those older figures, and am less interested in first versions of anyone from Scramble City onwards. I just don't think those characters are important enough to the brand and its history to warrant the time and the cost. (And I theorize that Takara is of the same opinion.)

I do agree that Blaster and Skids are coming in the next few years, and Galvatron, while falling outside the parameters above, will probably get done due to his great importance. But he may be the only exception they make from this point on. That's still over twenty characters that have yet to receive any official Masterpiece figure, hopefully enough to satisfy everyone wanting new characters in the line.

 

Only reason I want V2 Swipe, is to flow better with Sunny

I think it's because the + and V2's sell better than the pre-Transformer repaints.

 

I know most evrrybody else loves it, but all these preorders being released 1 to 2 months early is really starting to aggravate me.

I plan out my preorders according to release month, to help budget out my purchases. Normally, I'd be okay but after having life throw some major dilemmas over the past couple of months, it's a little irritating.

I'm even trying to sell 1/4 of my collection to help the budget recover.
Off to cancel my MPM09 preorder, since I won't have the budget for it until Friday.   

 

You all know that will be Soundwave V2 the one with at least 6 different heads
