If he's seen as a 'one-off' kinda release like Star Saber or Optimus Primal originally were then the announcement strategy could be a little different.

 

I doubt it. The reality is that they now have 2 upcoming new mold Beast Wars characters, and while I'm all for Beasties, I think Takara is acutely aware that they have the G1 crowd slavering away for more, and while this v3 Prime will fill that void, they need to get a couple out to calm that segment of fans.

My guess is that they probably have something like Hound or Blaster ready to go, but they want the new Prime to lead the charge on any G1 releases, and since they've had a quiet year on new molds, we might see a bump in releases similar to 2017.

Lio Convoy is also a dicey proposition. Not because he's not a cool figure - but he's like Star Sabre in that he's not going to get the automatic Beast Wars buy in from Western fans, and if Takara is struggling, they want those Western $$$s to add to the padding.

 

I think this is like with Hot Rod, where we saw the "Come on down, Autobrat" in the side blurb and assumed there was a Blitzwing in the works. They have done stuff like that before.

 

I hope that's the case. Again, I appreciate the thought, but I don't want to be paying for large, cumbersome stands for multiple releases.

Could Transmetal Primal be another possibility?

Ummm. Don't think there's a need of a + version if v3 is uber toon accurate....is there?

 

Though I've a feeling the bent antenna battle damage face with be an option, perhaps along with a "greyed out" version, his full traumatic deathbed self would be ... interesting.

Especially if TT ever tackle Perceptor for the whole "I fear the wounds are... fatal" experience.

Can almost guarantee that MP BW Megatron will NOT come with his rubber ducky.. I'm finishing up season one, and it's no where to be seen. Sadness.

Hmmm, perhaps Grimlock 2.0? If it is, it'll probably be a Dinobot repaint.  

 

A figure like Lio Convoy would take the pressure off others like Airazor and Rhinox that don't have an obvious redeco. Beast Wars does need to pull its weight in the redeco side of things, so bots that have multiple redeco options will make up for those that have none.

 

Dinobot and Megatron don't really have a lot of repaint potential. You have Grimlock from diningD and... Maybe T-Wrecks from Megatron? Grimlock I can see happening, but T-Wrecks? Idk about that.. maybe they could do + versions and do you versions.
