Agreed. So far none of the other shows post BW have gotten MPs...not sure why Prime of all shows would be the special exception.

I can't imagine they would start with anyone other than Optimus Prime, and... that's not very exciting (at least to me).

War Breakdown or Medic Knock Out would be pretty exciting.

If I was really going to shake up the MP line, the next seven releases would be Stakeout, Astrotrain, Nightbeat, Brawn, Deep Cover, Swindle, and black Megatron.

Dont forget that we have to count the MPMs into the release cycle now, love them or hate them. We may be moving to 2 G1 characters per year now with the success of MPM-4 and 5.

With respect to TFP, early G1, BW and Bay are the three tentpole eras, so other offshoots of those and ones that happened in between are much less likely barring a massive expansion of the line to have multiple groups of fans catered to on a more individual basis. If Victory, say, was big enough to support a whole subset, we’d have seen more than just Star Sabre by now.

Wouldn't rule out Armada/Micron Legend. That show had a pretty decent impact as well. Maybe not as big as (early) G1, BW or the Bayverse, but a solid fourth place with a lot of nothing behind it until the next show as far as impact goes.

And ML Optimus did do pretty well on the poll, if I'm not rembering incorrectly.

But yeah, Prime...there are some very nice designs in that show and some I several I would love to have a bit bigger and better designed, but Masterpiece seems very unlikely.

You’re forgetting that Primal is the leader in one of the three eras that have broad appeal. Also, probably more importantly is that if Star Sabre didn’t do well enough, they probably had to sit down and thin seriously about which other non-licensed era would do best with fans.

If Star Sabre’s limited appeal beyond Japan caused lower orders from Western retailers to leave distributors with excess stock, it’d make sense that they moved on to Beast Wars. It has broad appeal to fans worldwide.

Yeah - also, you can't assume that the second place in that vote is the second most popular. That may seem counter-intuitive - but people had to go all-in on just one vote.

We'd have to have ranked choice voting, that way as a toy is done, the options change, and how things will line up will undoubtedly shift.

I'd love it if they'd do more fan votes. A MP God Ginrai would be awesome - especially after the huge disappointment to me that the TR / Legends one was.

Seeing how he and godbomber sold I would have to say they noticed. I normally lower the bar pretty low for non MP stuff and godbomber is pretty bad. The idea of a super Ginrai may have been too ambitious on the budget they were working with. I would love to see a MP version, that said I would love to see Mp version of all the characters on the survey. Being they're almost through with G1 we might see them in the next few years. ( Yeah, I said it, unless we start seeing non diaclone cars/popular characters, I'm sticking with them wrapping G1 up with the diaclones and Galvatron with maybe some 2.0/3.0s in the future.)

You joke, but I would buy this in a heartbeat! More Minibots is never a bad thing, and we could use some aquatic MP love.

    Same here.

To me, Seaspray, Beachcomber, Cosmos and the like are the "every man" characters of the Autobot crew. They're characters who found a war at their doorstep and, instead of running and hiding, sought out to do the best they can with what they have to offer. They're not built for battle like Ironhide or Kup nor are they a recruiter's dream like Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. They're lab assistants, tour guides, accountants, and the energon equivalent of sandwich makers with the moral fiber to stand up to tyranny despite they're lack of prowess compared to their compatriots. They basically embody what it is the Autobots are fighting to preserve.

    That and hovercrafts are cool.

I agree with all of that. The only thing I can add is that flying saucers are also cool.
