Now, sure, but they weren't worth anything when it actually mattered. You can sit on some stuff but not everything. That business model is way more expensive.

My lone Joe so far, might go out tomorrow and try and hunt down the rest of wave 1. Honestly this is probably the best 6" Hasbro figure I've handled. Not as much articulation as Lightning Collection, but feels like a sturdier build than both Marvel Legends and Power Rangers Lightning Collection to me
I wound up selling most of those figures individually because I couldn't justify keeping them once they were selling for high prices. I think I only kept Zandar, Thrasher, and Road Pig out of both sets. I paid full price and I did appreciate them for awhile though. If Hasbro makes a good set with characters people want, they will sell. Especially troop builders. BBTS shouldn't be scared. Hasbro has to step up though.
That reminds me, on one of D Amazing's reviews he mentioned a company that makes 1/12 scale firearms... I THINK it was Mili Works? Anyone know who they are? I haven't been able to find a company with that name.
I don't have specifics either but I've noticed their exclusives often sit. That last set of GI Joe figures sat for a long time. So did the clear TF Prime figures. And they had to dump the G1 Piranhacon reissue. Battle Unicorn was around for something like a decade too. Even fan channel stuff, where they're not competing with Ollies, like the Generations Selects and some of the ML box sets, seem to have a long shelf life. I don't know that I'd leap head first into an exclusive either. At the volume they order, you're talking real money that'd be locked up. Sitting on stuff is expensive. Partly because you have to pay to keep storing it. Partly because it inflates how much you have to buy for the fraction that you actually sell to make revenue targets. I was pretty naive, assuming I'd sell through 90% of a year's order within a year. If you planned storage to expected capacity, the building would be bursting at the seams in the second or third year. I mean _eventually_ everything sells, possibly even at a premium (because reasons), but in the short term it's a huge hurdle to get over. But back to GI Joe, hopefully NYCC will have some more preorders revealed...
You guys are so fortunate to at least have sightings of the Cobra Trooper in the wild. There have been no POs for the CI figures in my country...which is strange because (normally) they will be be available to the various import shops. By the way, can anyone tell me how many Cobra Troopers I need to form a squad or unit? Is it 3 or 4 (like Storm Troopers)? Yeah, I’m not getting the regal version of CC too...while re-watching some of the episodes from the original series, the blues on CC were the same as the Cobra Troopers. Nice jacket on Duke but will it stain the figure over time? I had a bad experience before.
I think it comes down to characters. Those shelf-warming BBTS releases were pretty much D-List characters. Cobra Island isn’t, and obviously wouldn’t be shelf-warming at BBTS that was my larger point. Yeah if Hasbro gives them a Clear Cobra Commander release 36 months from now it’s going to shelf-warm. Both Target and Walmart have received very top tier characters before the entire market, none of that is analogous to BBTS’ prior online “exclusives.”
So, who is going to get up bright and early tomorrow to check out their local Target? I'm still considering it.
I’ll probably be there at 9 a.m. anyway to look for NECA stuff...might as well check for Joes. But, the local store says they are enforcing the 8/14 street date, so, I don’t expect to get lucky there and I don’t think I’ll bother driving to any other stores.
Well, I said screw it, got a $100 gift card reload on amazon to get an additional $10 bonus for $80 (gotta love rewards points) and ordered Snake Eyes, Duke, Roadblock and Destro from amazon. Also threw in a Havoc from fortnite for free because he looks like Firefly. Also threw down a preorder for Gung Ho and 2 red ninjas at thechosenprime.
Just saw the article on toynewsi.com saying that now the new August 1st date for the Cobra Island Joes is for in-store, only. They’re still not going back on sale online again until August 14. Bummer.
