The retail release will be a different box for certain. This version, at a minimum, lacks a UPC and legal information on the box so those will need to be added for retail just to be able to be sold. Secondly, there isn’t any toy and character descriptions and call outs like the other retail packages revealed. We will likely see a vastly different package for Snake Eyes at retail.

Haha, I actually bought two but one is going to a friend. Well actually I bought five but I got the remaining three on the second round of preorders so they're coming in July and have been promised to people already. So unless someone backs out, I just got one for myself, haha!

Yes but provided you don’t destroy the black-box in the process of opening... the thermoform plastic tray is likely to be identical. Compare to the Destro above. You see what I am saying? Just swap the plastic tray and done. Assuming he isn’t a different Snake-Eyes but I doubt it considering the promo art.

No doubt. It will be the exact same figure, same weapons, same tray. Front of the box will likely be the same; only differences being the back, which will have a product image and not the poster image of this release, and the bottom which will have the UPC and legal info.

    It’ll get this treatment.

I thought it was said that the retail release was going to be different than this one. If they're the same, then I'll just wait for that one to open.

    ^Excellent synopsis sir.

While I haven't opened mine up yet, all signs are showing that this particular figure seems like a game changer. It might have been said before and I'm definitely not taking credit for the thought, but since Hasbro owns the Joe license, I wonder if the theoretical reduced licensing cost is allowing them to put more time, effort, and energy into this line?

Anyway, I hope this line goes deep-deep and like you said, we get 6th, 7th, and 8th versions of good 'ole Snakes, which each version topping the last. Think original 25th 5pack release Snake Eyes and compare it to the Ultimate POC version or even the Retaliation release with the white Timber. The 25th 5pack version was great, but the last 2 mentioned blew it out of the water.

Come to think of it, the 1st 25th 5 pack Snake Eyes was the only good figure in that 5 pack to me, surpassed by the wave 5 all black repaint(with retooling to enable the hips to move further) then completely blown away by the POC wave 3 desert battle version.

I had the same “complaint”. All black would be preferable.

Gotcha! Yeah, I can see many versions of these characters, especially Snake Eyes coming in the future. That’s kinda why I’m lukewarm now and prefer to wait for my ideal looks to come. Even so, I’ve already preordered 3 of the 5 characters and who knows what will happen when I see more of the other 2.

I missed that if that is what they said. It will undoubtedly be the same figure; I assume the difference they are referring to would, at the most, be paint apps. And the fact that it doesn’t come with the extra weapons.

I liked the gray version. The black was just too dark and, for me, lost the details. Though a darker gray somewhere between what we got and black would have been ideal.

I can’t see why it doesn’t do okay. There is a good chunk of Joe fans, 25th lasted for a while. Me I’d really like to see a “Hasbro” line of misfit brands like MASK, Visionaries and Inhumoids as well. That would make my life. Even if I cannot get full casts there are plenty of cool characters I’d like to see get there do.

Sorry sidetracked. I think 6” Joe will be plenty healthy.

I’d say sure in retrospect. But at the time they were sick compared to VV and you had that cool ass Joe logo that played the theme song. Things got way cooler but at the time it was like discovering fire.

I can't find the figure on Yo Joe (maybe it just escapes me) but does anyone else remember a desert storm inspired Duke? He had a helmet and a similar camo that the real soldiers wore. I swear I remember having the figure.

You're probably right (and I'll probably get both, haha). My source was from Hisstank (G.I. Joe State of the Union Toy Fair 2020 Edition - HissTank.com).

Good call. History has not been kind to the 25th figures, especially the early ones, but at the time, being the first 4” line after VvV, they were absolutely marvelous figures.
