In the right roles he is quite good I agree. He either improved his craft tremendously since GI Joe or better directors have simply been able to get more out of him then Sommers.

I like the designs a lot, but watching it recently, I thought it hadn't aged very well. It felt very 'badass' in a teenagery way. It highlighted the things I don't much like about Warren Ellis's stuff in general.

Ps I feel it is literally impossible for me to dislike Tatum after magic Mike.

I think we have to disagree on this. That’s a slew of third rate work right there. If he was a “star” he would be in Marvel movies, he’s in White House Down what kind of joke movie is that? Your career following Gerard Butler’s isn’t success.

You’re confusing quality with stardom. Most of the actors in Marvel movies aren’t stars; the movies are the star and they are simply along for the ride.

Movie star is used to define an actor whose popularity is deemed to lead to a film’s marketability and success. That certainly doesn’t apply to most Marvel actors but it did for Channing Tatum.

What was that poster that people were sharing when this line was first announced? I can't find it. Was it for the new movie or the line of figures?

As for Channing Tatum, there are roles that fits him.
Versatile? Maybe. Great Actor? Not yet.

He's good at plain serious, comedy, romantic flicks. I like him in The Vow.
But he doesn't fit the "Duke" role. He doesn't look military-guy (at that time).
Yeah, he was propelled by the industry.

Almost same thing with Taylor Kistch but I think Channing had it a lot of luck (career-wise) than Taylor.
But I think Taylor could be a better "Duke" than Channing. He's more military look (thanks to Battleship) than Channing.

For Marlon Wayans, if he has the seriousness like Will Smith it's ok.
But I felt MW was casted for the sake of punch lines. He's good but that's my impression with his casting.

    Joseph Gordon Levitt.
They wasted him in some aspect. He seems "so young looking" to be Cobra Commander.
And what.. Cobra and Duke are former buddies? Come on. :lol

Dennis Quaid. Whoa. It's a waste for veteran actor like him.
Just stayed in the HQ for the whole movie :lol

But in the end, that Joe film was made to sell toys in the first place. I guess they had strict budget at that time.

Ray Park, Byung Hun Lee and Anna Ferris nailed their roles very well.

As for Retaliation, the best part of the film was:
    - Mountain Ninja Battle
    - Definitive Cobra Commander Mask

That movie feels like "just to fit" The Rock's machismos.
And the casting fo Bruce Willis is more like a "Stunt Casting" if you ask me.

The love for ARAH is so evident in this thread. Props to everyone engaged and keeping the conversation going. That’s the true impact of a story, it’s mythos and characters.

    Yo Joe everyone.

He got Storm Shadow completely wrong. Otherwise, I liked Resolute a lot and liked how the DVD version left it open that Storm Shadow
    came back to life
    .
It has VERY loyal fans. I've been on online joe discussions since the early 2000's. These are very patient and passionate fans. We don't always get the ARAH homages we want(the "new sculpt" era of 2002-2006 taught us that for sure) but when we do, usually it's a cool thing. The 2011 Skystriker isn't perfect but I cannot tell you how happy I was to finally see the Skystriker return. Even moreso once I figured out how to retain the swing-wings while separating the landing gear mechanism from the wings. It was the highlight of not only the 30th anniversary for me, but for modern Joes.

With that said, here's some post 90's Joe toys that I think aged well:
    • Eaglehawk
    • 2011 Skystriker
    • Target Tiger Rat
    • Target Rattler
    • Target Python Patrol Conquest
    • Silent Striker
    • 25th SHARC(ARAH colors...almost sure this was a new mold reverse engineered from the original but made much more sturdy..the Target 25th green SHARC feels way more flimsy and lighter in general)
    • Cobra WOLF
    • SNAKE ARMOR
    • Cobra Jet Pack
    • Twin Battle Gun
    • That cobra SAM launcher with 3 missles
    • 50th anniversary Storm Shadow V2
    • Retaliation wave 4 Ultimate Storm Shadow
    • Retaliation wave 4 Ultimate Cobra Commander
    • 50th anniversary Destro
    • Retaliation Night Viper
    • 50th anniversary Gung Ho(destroys the 25th one by far)
    • POC wave 3 Snake Eyes
    • 25th Iron Grenadier Destro
    • POC Destro with the minigun and money suitcase
    • POC Jungle BAT
    • 25th Paraviper
    • Retaliation Kamakura
    • POC desert battle Storm Shadow
    • POC jungle assault Duke
    • POC Dusty
    • 25th V3 Snake Eyes
    • Retaliation classic Firefly(3 pack)
    • POC Alley Viper
    • POC Shock Trooper
    • POC HISS(black since the locking mechanism is more secure)
    • POC Jungle Viper
    • Retaliation Crimson Guard
    • POC VAMP
    • 30th/Renegades Black Dragon VTOL(not animation accurate at all but actually based on a concept design from Massive Black during ROC/POC)
    • 25th Skyhawk VTOL
    • POC Skyhawk VTOL
    • 50th Flint
    • 30th Sci Fi
    • 30th Airtight
    • 30th Bioviper
    • 30th Storm Shadow
    • POC Spirit
    • POC chase Cobra Commander
    • ROC City Strike Snake Eyes
    • ROC Sci Fi
    • Retaliation Black Dragon Ninja
    • Retaliation Ultimate Roadblock
    • Retaliation Ultimate Duke
    • 30th Crimson HISS
    • 2000 desert Dragonfly

I loved Sci-Fi as a kid, mostly because his helmet reminded me of RoboCop. :lol  His neon lime green outfit mixed with silver combined with his laser rifle and battery backpack was pretty cool and, well, sci-fi-ish.

I took that figure to school with me often, up until one of my teachers confiscated him (along with Transformers Doublespy aka Punch/Counterpunch) from me. I did get them both back at the end of the school day though. :D

2011 Sci-Fi is freakin' awesome and is the ultimate version of the character! Granted that he didn't do much on the original cartoon show or appear very often but I would always be on the lookout for that lime green goofball.

Looking at that poster and see Alley Vipers. While I do like the Alley Vipers I hope they give us regular Cobra Troopers and Vipers first.

I think Cobra will look a lot better as updated sic-fi versions. They were already half there anyway. I just noticed Gung-Ho's gun... the heck? I know you have to sic-fi it up but they can do better than that. I mean, Fortnite has much more realistic looking weapons.

If they just did two guns sci-fi and traditional it would solve 50% of the issues. I am hoping an “arms dealer” might come with a weapons assortment or a separate foot-locker / weapons pack release.

Could Hasbro release a alternate weapons set on The Pulse website? They could call it Destro's weapons source or something?

And even if they don't, there are alternative 1/12 military weapons we can buy, as you already pointed out.

Obviously they could if they wanted to. Pulse carries all Hasbro products so it isn’t as if Pulse would refuse to carry it.

the question isn’t “could” they but “would” they make such a product to begin with. That’s an entirely different question.
