Imagine wanting ThunderCats classics figures, but getting 2011 designs instead (or worse, ThunderCats ROAR figures, lol). It's not that these new figures are bad -- they're not, they look great. But I personally think 6in ARAH figures would look better, especially on my shelf.
Why he thankful, hasbro is not doing us any special favors. We are paying customers and we want what we want, if hasbro refuses to sell what we want, then we keep our money and has to take a loss, and either produces what we want or that will be the end of this iteration of G.I. Joe.
Just listened to the Full Force podcast and the host said he had a chance to talk with the product design manager Lenny and he was saying that the colors for the Classified line aren't set it stone and may be slightly changed before the line rolls out. Was also interesting to hear that the new figures are being designed to appeal to kids.
A better question is why be negative. Positivity around a brand is far more preferable than bitching about not getting exactly what you wanted. A successful GI Joe line is good for everybody.
Alright, I caved and ordered Scarlet with my ToyFair order at BBTS. I was on the fence about Duke and Smokescreen so they were cut for now.
I’m actually more disappointed in the Jazware announcement than the Classified figures. The Classified figures aren’t exactly what I thought they’d be either, but by and large, I’m still pretty happy with what we’re getting. In fact, I think they did a beautiful job with Snake Eyes, and a pretty good job with the other three that we’ve seen (took a little while for me to come around on the Roadblock one, but now, with the exception of the gun, I think he looks fine). With the Jazwares figures, I think I allowed myself to jump to the conclusion that we were going to get a continuation of the 4 inch figures, except possibly a little higher end. Now, upon finding out they’re doing G.I. Joe as Domez figures, I‘m a little disappointed. Still, we have the Classified figures to look forward to. I know the first few aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I think if the toyline has any legs there’s a lot of potential there for them to do different versions of the characters, including ARAH versions.
God I have such fond memories of the Dragonfly. That vehicle with the rotors and Wild Bill may have forever sealed my love of this brand. Like everything awesome about Apocalypse Now in one bad-ass set.
OMG the Dragonfly! I loved and feared that toy as a kid. Such a great piece but boy if you thumbed that rotorblade switch hard enough you could get that propeller spinning frighteningly fast. I bruised a lot of fingers on that toy as a kid. Ahhhh, the 80s. A more innocent time when toy designers said to themselves "safety measures? F#@$ that s#!@".
Apparently they are doing multiple scales. Those 1:32 could be great for Mega figures... just saying...
My brother and I would spin that rotor and hit each other in the head. Good times, good times. In all serious that spinning rotor was amazing you felt like is was really a Helo at the time. And the Mobat peak Joe vehicles for full kid play immersion.
