That’s fair. As long as Hasbro focuses on the original property I think they are good. I see POC more as an adjunct to the 25th and movie figures than say Valor Vs Venom trying to reimagine things. I think the Zombie Troopers and Hazard Vipers were some of the coolest new releases.
YES! i don't know what v2 Snake eyes is but I'm pretty sure it's a yes I don't have a big want list (because I've only seen the 2 Joe movies) A Cobra commander with the metal mask (definitely not the joe movies CC) A Dwane Johnson Roadblock And retaliation Snake eyes
V2 is the one with the visor, V1 had the goggles. For reference: Snake Eyes (v2) G.I. Joe Action Figure - YoJoe Archive Snake Eyes (v1.5) G.I. Joe Action Figure - YoJoe Archive Snake Eyes (v1) G.I. Joe Action Figure - YoJoe Archive
Yeah, I agree, which is why I would prefer the Sunbow cartoon V2 -- it has the visor without the mouth.
To get this new line up and running and popular, th majority of the first half ten or so waves (let's suppose each wave is six unique characters), and two trooper waves (suppose two unique troopers/six of each), should be based on the real American Hero line. Then you can add in some movie characters/designs.
The problem with the GVC/VVV lines from 2002-2005 was that the toys often looked nothing like the designs from Draxhall Jump. 2002 Storm Shadow was decent but still only faintly resembled the original Draxhall jump design. However that was almost 20 years ago and I think those designs can be done justice now. However, aside from store/fan-channel exclusives, I don't see Hasbro doing anything outside of ARAH and this new Snake Eyes movie for a while. I think the 6" line will be ARAH heavy for a longtime, with a few movie figures sprinkled into waves to keep the line going and space out ARAH releases. For example, I don't think the OG13 will be made, in their entirety, in their V1 uniforms, in the 1st year of the 6" line. Furthermore I think stuff like Star Brigade Cobra Commander, Roadblock, et al, despite being from ARAH, won't be made for a long, long time since most fans don't remember them. Some of those older designs looked great on paper but were compromised by gimmicks(like Ninja Force Snake Eyes, armored Star Brigade, et al). At 6" scale with no gimmicks, those could make for neat figures. Wave 1 is 5 characters, Snake Eyes x 2 with 1 of everyone else, 6 figures per case I wonder if the inevitable V2 will come with different knight visors. It was drawn differently in the Sunbow cartoon(triangular slits at the bottom) and Marvel books(depending on artist, Mike Zeck visor seems more flat/angular while some draw it with more curvature). The Sigma 6 take on the knight visor was pretty cool.
That Snake Eyes v2 with Timber in the 25th line made everyone go gaga going after him. I was forced to make a secret deal with a TRU sales dude to keep me one so I'll avoid the hassle of long hunting. But I think it's worth it. I don't mind getting an upsize version of it at $30 as long it's loaded with accessories and Timber is an articulated figure and not just a solid static plastic display dog.
^My man! So that's a minimum of 20 figures which sounds nice. I must resist the urge to troop build though. This is coming from a guy with 45 of the 25th Mass Device DVD pack Cobra Troopers because they were the most toon accurate.
OK...I'm starting to get a little excited for this now. God damn it. Just give me these guys with these designs (I never read the comics, so, the 80s shows are my only point of reference for GI Joe character designs):
Guarantee all those happen. Although a proper Lady Jaye was a bit of pain this last time.... Who is the one Joe or Cobra anyone wants that they think is the least likely to happen?
Holy hell man...at least read the Marvel run volumes 1-3(it goes by fast, don't worry!). It'll give you an entirely new perspective for Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes. Gives Storm Shadow far more depth than the cartoon ever did. Calling it now, Silent Interlude 3 pack: Scarlett Snake Eyes V1 with bright blue drybrush highlights Storm Shadow V1 with torn arm wrappings revealing his Arashikage tattoo
Ouch...looks like we deserve a better version...lol. Thanks for that recommendation. I’m trying to catch up on some comics I missed as a kid...just didn’t have much access to them back then. It is interesting to finally get insights into the comic storylines I’ve heard people talk about for years. There’s a whole other world to be discovered in those.
No prob, IDW reissued volumes of ARAH years back so it's a lot easier to catch up now. The 2 and 3 packs with comics back in the mid-late 2000's helped catch me up as well. You'd probably really like the Special Missions title since Larry Hama was free to just focus on telling a good story rather than have to feature some of the popular characters/vehicles from the toyline. It's one of the main reasons I want a Beachead figure. The design was already bad ass, that book made him more bad ass.
