Well, it may need some paint, but here is my attempt at a Sunbow Flint custom made from Marauder Inc. parts.
I'm just updating my pics since I added a bunch of new stuff from the last 2 FSS's. I'll post them soon
god damn it this thread pisses me off so bad why doesn't Hasbro do something huge with gijoe ain't nobody got time for limited releases and insane prices.
It's just that nobody will give an inch. Hasbro will release two token (poor) assortments at $15 each with maybe one $90 vehicle, then wonder why it all sits. On the other side, people will wait for Ross clearance and then wonder why it all stops. Would be nice to see what'd happen if they put real effort into a moderately priced relaunch and collectors actually bought it at face value.
Folks went crazy over the Dollar General GI Joe releases. I thought the offshoot business model worked very well and had a great future but Hasbro never went beyond the second wave.
^ Wouldn't a Dollar General wave or two right now be awesome. What were they 5.99$ retail? Bump up the price to 8.99$ and go for a simple 6 figure assortment that could make sensible re-paints out of...... Back in the day, I bought every single black cobra trooper I came across. Even when I didn't need or want them I bought them, it just seemed like a sin to leave them pegged. At one point I had like 30 of them. I sold a bunch to my brother-in-law and traded the rest. ^ I only have 5 left and those 5 will never leave my collection, they are somewhere barely visible on this shelf.... Ah, good memories.......
I still say Hasbro fucked themselves over when they abandoned the retro packaging. Should of had it for even the movies, having that retro aspect fueled the 25th revival. The dollar general figures sucked imo. Zero fun in having half-ass ninja force snake eye's and storm shadow. The rest were just even more lazy leftovers.
^ Totally agree on the 25th style cards, they were what hooked everyone in.... ^ Can't really agree on the DG Joe's, even if they were lazy repaints. They sold really well around my area, I think it was because they were only ever one case per store..... They were really basic yes, but I think I bought multiples of every figure except the wave 2 blue Cobra Commander.....
Yeah, they made great troop builders... And my stores probably only had one case each but I had a lot of stores. Still even if Hasbro would do DG type of Joe's again, it'd be that type of lazy shit that killed the line (cobra flint I'm staring you down lol.)
I don't know why they never offered waves of troopers to specialty shops. TRU got a small set of basic Joes (plus Snake Eyes, again) and a matching Cobra set but good luck ever finding them.
Actually, I was applauding Hasbro's attempt to branch out more so than the quality of the figures. At least they tried something new, but it was the lack of follow through that killed it. And now of course, I wish I had grabbed all those BLUE Cobra Commanders too. Now I think they would have made excellent Blue "Crimson" Guards.
