I think if you're willing to pound the pavement, you can make a pretty good go at Classified at retail. I just totally burnt myself out on doing that by early 2021 between everything else I collect. Once they got the online purchasing sorted out for this line, I never looked back.

Same here. The only reason I bother buying the occasional Classified figure at retail is because of the Target-exclusive Tiger Force/Python Patrol stuff and because Retro Scarlett was at the Target near my house. If it weren’t for those, I’d be getting them entirely off of BBTS.

I did extremely well with the half priced Grunts after a lot of flops. Did well with Ross finds. Did well with Target finding nearly every new thing. Honestly, this line has gotten so much better on distro than 2 years ago.

100% of my new Classified purchases are on Pulse. Every single one of them. I don’t even look at the GI Joe section in any store, couldn’t even tell you what wave my stores have or should have.

I’ll occasionally get army builders on sale elsewhere.

    UK HASBRO PULSE :
G.I. Joe Classified Series #119, Cobra Ferret Scout & Cobra Ferret ATV
(Date change to May 15th 2023) was May 22nd 2024

    -------------

There are some "legacy" Gi Joe characters who exist in some grey-zone where maybe they might get a retail vehicle or a Haslab or they might get a solo vehicle driver release (like Copperhead), See Copperhead is OK on his own as he has a couple of deco variations on his standard costume so which ever one they do as a single they can do the other with a water mocassin.

Some characters would work well as "vehicle crew" too take W.O.R.M.S. as an example of that, he'd make a great single release and if they ever did a MAGGOT tank then a slight deco change and you have a the driver/commander with the existing one as general armour specialists.

Thunder for example could be made retro carded or boxed and then reversed to be made twice.

There are also some things people might overlook that they'd still get like Desert Clutch and Desert Grunt for example.

One thing that came up on other boards was the expansions to the Crimson themes Like the https://www.yojoe.com/action/91/cgimmortal.shtml or https://www.yojoe.com/action/03/cgimmortal2.shtml

    Or even these : https://www.yojoe.com/action/08/crimsonguard13.shtml

The Crimson Shadow Guards might complement things like the Night Watch theme too :
    https://www.yojoe.com/action/15/cobrashadowguard17.shtml
    https://www.yojoe.com/action/05/crimsonguard8.shtml

I'd like to see this one made for Classified too : https://www.yojoe.com/action/18/cobraofficer13.shtml

I'm trying to remember my last Classified retail purchase. I think it was the retro Lady Jaye about a year and a half ago. I was out of town for a funeral and pretty depressed about it. It sounds superstitious but I think I have a little help at times like that.

If we're getting Croc Master and Raptor, then Crystal Ball and Big Lob will both pop up at some point. The Hasbro team has expressed their appreciation for these more outlandish characters.

The Fridge is a longshot, but I'd still love for him to arrive in Classified. Everything I've read is that Mr Perry has had a rough time after the NFL propelled him to stardom, and then physically used him up and cut him loose without post-play support. I'm hoping Hasbro didn't take advantage of him back in the day and that The Fridge would be willing to participate today. Wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to participate again.

Mr. T is an obvious choice for a celebrity Joe. He shares a similar 4 decade celebrity status that matches ARAH. Always beloved and always trying to be a positive role model to kids, he has the charisma to promote a figure with convention appearances and promotional videos.

I hadn't thought much about more wrestlers but I've seen quite a bit of Hulk Hogan recently. He's done both the good guy and heel bits like Sgt Slaughter without any naughty personal behavior outside the ring. He's got potential to be a good spokesman for the Classified line and has proven longterm mainstream name recognition.
Edit: Guess I don't follow wrestling close enough. All the wrestlers did steroids, but the racist language should keep him out of GI Joe.

I’d go for a Valaverse character called The Freezer, a former member of the XFL Chicago Enforcers.

I've had enough QC issues with this line that I rely on buying at retail. That way, if a figure has QC issues, it's less hassle to return it.

The Classifieds line is doing great and does not need to pay old celebrities to sell product. Sgt. Slaughter was needed as his character was apart of several major stoylines in the ARAH show, other then Sgt. imo no other 80s celebrity is needed. The team should focus on producing the rest of ARAH and add in some of the newer characters, exactly like what has been done already.

My personal take is that wrestlers should follow the Slaughter and Roddy template as trainers for factions.

    Roddy Piper was Iron Grenadiers.

I think Mr. T should be Steel Brigade's trainer.

Give him the trousers and an open Steel Brigade green vest. Give him an alternate Steel Brigade helmet with a mohawk sculpted addition.

I was thinking of who the "huge sized" GI Joe figures should be. Biggest bucks of the line should go to:

    Serpentor
    Nemesis Enforcer
    Roadpig
Kwinn - he is listed as 7'-0" tall
The Fridge - the fictional version can match the hype

I also would have accepted Sgt Slaughter and Roadblock on a bigger buck, but those decisions have been made. The real Robert Remus has a height that seems suspiciously inflated and inconsistent. He's a tall guy, and if GI Joe wanted him to be huge I'd have no issue with his fictional version being bigger. Roadblock gets drawn all kind of crazy heights depending on the artist and media. Roadblock and Gung Ho sharing the formerly "pretty big buck" is fine, but I'd not complain if Roadblock had been larger.

Mister T and I are both 5'-10"! Still don't think I'd pick a fight with him. Making him part of Steel Brigade sounds good to me! Got him on the team whether Hasbro makes an official or not. (old phone camera and swapping with MCU Luke Cage)
    Mr T 02.jpg

Funny enough, when the Comic Packs reused Roadblock's torso for the LRRP Tommy Arashikage vietnam figure it looked hilariously out of place.
    tommyarashikage.jpg https://www.yojoe.com/action/06/tommyarashikage.shtml

But back to the original point, when Roadpig gets shown off during hopefully this June we will finally get to see how big Hasbro goes with him. Will he share the Roadblock/Gung Ho tooling or will there be a bigger buck for him? If he is a larger sized tooling, then The Fridge would be a logical re-use of that tooling.

Yea that dude definitely saved Snake Eyes’ life in Vietnam with a bow, arrows and sheer brute strength.

No wonder that dude could cut a tank apart with a sword.

Fortunately, Classified isn't the only potential outlet for a roughly 1:12 Hulk Hogan figure. Just means we won't get a box set homaging Thunder in Paradise.
