GI JOE con 2017's 3 3/4" boxset theme will be Battle Force 2000 vs Cobra BATS.
Just some quick female Joe kitbashes:
Custom Scarlett (Resolute body/hair with some gear and RoC head).
Custom night ops Scarlett (RoC Scarlett body with gear and Black Widow head).
FSS Cover Girl with Marvel Shanna head (not a skin tone match but I like the sculpt better than stock).
Oooohh Battle Force 2000! I loved that group so much when I was a kid
FSS Charbroil and Cobra Battle Corps Trooper showed up for me today.
Charbroil looks really cool. Always liked his bug helmet design since I was a kid. Repaired a PoC hisstank a couple days ago and its been awesome playing with again. Such a badass design and looked mean as hell too. It ruined me,i've yet to buy the vintage design since and don't think I could. PoC should be the new standard hisstank and retire the vintage mold.
POC Hiss is one of the greatest Cobra tanks of all time. Everything about it screams badass.
I'm gonna sound really dumb when I ask this, but how big is a H.I.S.S. Tank toy? I'm thinking about picking up the Chimera just for fun, but I want to make sure I have enough space for it.
What is the story with a 6" black series-type line? I read there are rumors that is it going to happen?
Might we see something at Toyfair or is it just a pipe dream?
It seems the long time collector's are against it, but there seems to be interest in it by other collectors?
No story at all for now. Just rampant speculation.
Like you said a lot of the long time collectors have no interest in investing in a new scale. Which creates even more risk producing the figures on top of a relatively stagnant demand since there is no new media supporting it and bringing in more fans.
Personally though, GI Joe was my favorite franchise as a kid. I think part of of was the affordability of the individual figures compared to transformers which I couldnt as easily puchase with my own meager allowance money. Anyway, As much as I loved the 3 3/4 scale stuff then, I feel that it doesnt have enough shelf precesence for me as an adult collector. I really would prefer a 6" line.
I'd totally buy those statues if I could. It's too bad we can't get Koto to make Artfx statues of Joes.
Yo snow! Vintage Snow Cat & Frostbite + 2015 Collector's Club Frostbite review in the wild:
Been working on-and-off on my Predator cast custom Joe kitbashes. First up is Bill Duke's character, Mac Elliot:
Tried to get his weapon and ammo belt/box right. I know there should be more brown on his military camo fatigues but I can't paint worth spit. I suppose the Marauder woodland troops would work color-wise, but they tend to have an armored look that the Predator cast shouldn't have.
Working on Billy Sole next. These kitbashes are kinda fun!
Also, FSS 5.0's 2nd round of figures arrived for me: Salvo and Darklon. FSS used the bigger, modified build for Salvo and he looks great! (Granted, his left thigh pouch came off inside the packaging but nothing a little glue can't fix.)
What's wrong with the Billy Sole we already got?
Two of my favorites during the ARAH days. Those are figures we should be getting at retail. So much wasted retail potential, smh.
I agree. It really is a shame how good this line has become and how well I think it would have done at retail. They shot themselves in the foot with their movie lines peg warming the same figures over and over. It's kind of the formula of the times though: high cost figures + great designs = online club only type program.
He's a pretty good tongue-in-cheek Predator cast homage (him, and Shadow Tracker, Jungle Duke, and Recondo in the POC line) but he's a bit too small (Billy's main weapon isn't a bow/arrows, it's the M-16/shotgun combo which looks ridiculously oversized when Spirit holds it) and inaccurate for my tastes. The green color on his uniform is wrong, and I don't particularly like how his trousers aren't bloused/tucked into his boots (the military in me says that's all sorts of wrong in and of itself ).
Guess no toyfair gi joe news???
None from Hasbro so far but then not really surprising given lack of support from retail chains and media
I had forgotten just how ugly some of the '90s Joes were...
