Wow! I’m glad I waited until now to get a Skystriker. Always been a fan of aircraft and especially F-14 based ones but never cared for the previous releases of the Skystriker. This one will be perfect, especially now with my kids also loving the F-14 and wanting toys of it.
Skystriker has landed. Im still working and it was freezing today so gonna have to let it sit and come up to temp but holy cow im thrilled.
Hopefully you get good fortune for nice figures. I opened two of my three Skystrikers. Four out of fourteen had damage or defects. One of my Fail-Safe’s bubble wasn’t attached at all. One of the Ramp Rats was bent down the middle. And both Scarlett’s have defective right elbows. I reached out to customer care. From what I’ve seen from other’s experience, HP is shipping out replacements in 1-2 weeks. I haven’t heard back yet. About to assemble my jets to make sure all is well.
Didn’t notice why the recent o ring joe releases looked different to until I recently unboxed the figures that came with my Haslab Skystriker. The plastic for the figures is duller and more matte than the originals. This, combined with the way the paints are applied, reminds me of how Playmobil figures look. ARAH O-ring Joes from 1982-1998 and their repaints from 2000-2009 have a semi-gloss plastic finish which gives off more of a reflective sheen. The Scarlett I opened had an elbow rivet fired through when slightly misaligned. The inner side of the rivet looks bad but thankfully the elbow bends fine for now.
Check your Targets mine had Python Viper and Bats for half off. All the Vipers were gone and 1 Bat left. They had the big 50% sticker tags on the shelf. I previously mentioned in the Marvel legends thread some of the legends on sale, that did not show on website, so this might be a per store basis, but it is worth checking if you have been waiting for a sale.
I think Im good. I did a quick 20 second once over on them. Teeny crimp on CC along the side of the card. But all elbows seem to be pointing the right way and no noticeable cracks and bubbles attached. I did get a battle wound putting the wings on and now have a blood blister on my finger getting it pinched. Will Hasbro supply Mauve Heart medals for collectors wounded in the line of duty?
Can anyone give a quick history of the Crimson BAT? Comic and/or cartoon based? I've never read the Joe comics and moved a lot so I couldn't watch the shows regularly. I'm just trying to decide the direction for my army building.
Was able to get the 1993 Battle Corps Ace into the front seat of the Haslab Skystriker cockpit. It’s a tight fit, you have to make sure the upper arms are as parallel to the body as possible as there’s not much clearance with the side tabs of the windscreen. It does look a lot better in there than 1983 Ace. The 1992 Ace mold has a traditional fighter pilot helmet used from the 60’s-90’s whereas the helmet on 1983 Ace resembles a 1950’s-early 1960’s helmet for pilots of fast jets like the F-104. Pretty sure Spytroops Ace and VVV Slipstream would look good in the Haslab Skystriker cockpit too. Also Failsafe’s file card has him as a RIO and pilot in addition to being a flight instructor. The way he’s described, he’s like the US Navy’s version of Slipstream. Wish he came with a similar helmet to 1992 Ace. That tooling for Failsafe can easily be reused for generic pilots with the 1992 Ace helmet. Also noticed the sidewinders on my 2nd Haslab Skystriker stay attached better than on my 1st copy. No slight seams/gaps between the wings either.
Decided to crack open the Retro Gung Ho I found today instead of waiting to get home LOL. The Valaverse vest is too tight and the Retro one fits good but looks too small. Too much blue anyways so I'm just gonna swap the future vest on the original Gung Ho and have that as my preferred look. Also the 8-point cap on the Retro figure doesn't seem to want to fit and stay on the head. Thankfully the Valaverse cap is pretty great.
