Yeah, the 2011 SkyStriker was definitely more durable. My original one had one of the wheels broken off years back…come to think of it, Hasbro’s Joe line was incredible. I had the Dragonfly, Mauler, Wolverine, Rattler etc but the SkyStriker was in a league of its own. I didn’t pick up the ROC Night Raven because of the size. My neighbour had the original one and we had “battles” growing up…the OG Night Raven was a beast. But my folks decided that the Rattler was enough so…I got to live with it. You’re right that promoting the SkyStriker is all over the place. For the last few months due to the Covid situation, I’m kinda swarmed by work so I don’t have much time to do research. I wished Hasbro could post the links on their site or something. I really hope the SkyStriker pulls through…after that I don’t mind seeing a Terrorde but man, I love to see the WHALE with Cutter included.
It’s getting to be a nailbiter with that Skystriker. A pretty awesome toy store I stopped by in the Cincinnati area said that toy stores/ toy dealers are allowed to place their orders on the last day so that should give it a jump. I wonder if they’ll reveal Wayne Ruthell’s codename before it ends??
Scarlet is definitely a solid figure out of this bunch. The lack of double elbow joints and accessories drags her down a touch though. Why these movie figs come with bare minimum for the same price as the regular Classified series is unknown to me. I've collected all of them except Storm Shadow simply because I prefer his classic V2 look with the hood, camo and bare arms. I'm waiting for that version to pop up eventually in some store.
The thing I never liked about it was the integrated landing gear mechanism with the wing sweep. Not a dealbreaker and I figured out how to separate them years later, but glad Hasbro figured out a way to do so. What’s odd is that I heard the same mechanism in the 2011 version is actually a different design from the 1983 version, so back in 2011 I was surprised they recreated that gimmick. Did they say what the order caps are for stores/dealers? I think enlarging the cap to 10 instead of 5 would’ve helped backing numbers. Would enable those willing to literally get a squadron of Skystrikers in 1 order. I’d love to see that version.
The wing sweep surgery killed the ME one for me. I hated doing it. I hated having to cut into my jet just to de-link the landing gear and even then after numerous tightening passes the landing gear still can't hold the damn jet up. I just kept the Ace figure out because he looks rad, but poor guy his jet has been in storage since that day and I don't intend to pull it back out. So the Haslab Skystrikers is goddamn amazing. It's enough to make my heathen, godless heart actually believe in God or whoever deity is willing to listen to me.
The rear landing gear work fine on mine, still working on a way to tighten the front landing gear post-surgery. 10 years ago I wrapped gorilla tape around its pegs(works but can loosen over time), a few months back I tested magnets.
They came close already and it wouldn't take much to turn out that version. I still have the 3.75" somewhere, yellowed, and missing most of his gear lol. He was a favorite and saw a lot of play.
Glad to know I'm not the only one. Damn you're still trying it 10 years on. You deserve a goddamn medal.
It's looking like I'll probably have to go that route. It's a lot of money but for him to be what I imagine with SE I'll have to get vanilla release and commando. I would love the suppressed MAC but the only one I've found is a pricier option at which point I could just get the other figures lol.
I hear ya. I'm still surprised that GridIron hasn't put together a MAC11 and an Uzi to offer with their dual sword set. Which is fabulous, by the way. The swords are loose in the scabbards so they won't scratch the paint I applied. The downside is they can fall out lol. If GridIron makes either of those weapons, I'm in.
Well, they did the MAC 10 and I was seriously debating it at $9 US but once I saw Commando has the Uzi and Timber it just seems the better route for my needs.
Just backed the Skystriker. I missed out on the eighties Joes and was one of the people wanting the o-ring figures back. I put my money where my mouth was and also got the Storm Shadow and Snake-eyes twopack.
Though prospects don't seem great, I hope it happens as I would love to see Hasbro try some different things with O-ring figures.
These are the guys behind the 3.75 Grindstone figure from the upcoming Robo Skull, they’re also making a 3.75 line with modular wrists called CS Longbow: Login • Instagram Storyline takes place before the end of the Cold War, could make for good additions to the Joes and Oktober Guard.
