In the interview Lenny said there’s room to modernize with the o-ring joes, he just wanted to start off with a verbatim recreation. I’d like to see what a modern take would look like from them. I imagine trying to hide the metal shoulder rivets might be challenging for construction unless they go all PVC for the upper arms(and I’d rather they didn’t use PVC, I’ve already got mixed feelings about them using PVC for the lower arms).

They also mentioned that they bought a couple 1983 Skystrikers to tear apart and rebuild for the sake of redesigning the new one. Due to the age of the Tomcat, Northrop Grumman was more willing to work with them. He said their team member Chris is a big jet guy so they both spent a lot of time working on it.

Collectors seem to mainly be getting the six inch stuff, I’ve seen the same figures peg warming at the couple Walmart’s in my area.

That may be different in other places but the current retro line doesn’t seem to be selling well.
But getting new o-ring figures on retro cards?
Hell the classic collectors would be all over that just to get a non broken figure for their displays, putting their original up for safe keeping. Not to mention that them being the original OG molds let’s then issue straight rereleases of the original Vehicles with no modification needed!

It’s all about that sweet, Sweet, SWEET Nostalgia Baby!!!!!

I don’t mind some modifications if it makes them sturdier. For example, the Eaglehawk from 2013 is a lot sturdier than the Tomahawk I had back in 1987(but the Eaglehawk could do without droopy rotors and could’ve had the translucent bottom canopy). The 2011 Skystriker is sturdy too aside from the single seat configuration(it’s far sturdier than the 83 version).

Very surprised the new retro o-ring line didn’t start off with 85 V2 Snake Eyes as that one was never repainted/rereleased through the years and was high in demand when Hasbro brought the ARAH o ring figures back from 1997-2007. It’s actually the only ARAH Snake Eyes mold that was never used again.

The retro (25th reissues) hit one Walmart _hard_ but only the wave with Stalker and the trooper. Otherwise it's been rarer than hen's teeth.

Sweet sweet nostalgia isn't for everyone. Some areas it does sell out others it sits. Reissue devastator g1 sold out instant in my area. Blaster Soundwave the cassettes prime hot rod all sat until it clearance out. And I live in an area hard-core with collectors and scalpers. To have all that peg warm? Just saying. Most people tend to go for the more modern aspects and 6 in lines. Only retro joe I ever saw multiple on pegs were stalker and Duke. Because they over bought the last wave and the Duke mold sucked from the original line. Scarlet gone. Destro gone. Cobra commander snake eyes storm shadow baroness? Kaiser sosay.

BTW got my zartan today too. He's been inside since got home and actually saw ups pull away s I pulled in so he wasn't outside long. Definitely was grey color when I opened. Still seems pale. And my house is 74 degrees. 20211105_200102.jpg

I'm kind of disappointed that there aren't loose arrows, a place to store the bow and that the sniper rifle strap is angled so it makes it hard to hold.
Overall, it's okay but I don't think it's necessary if you already have the first release.

I like the added accessories…but the figure has a strange gray overcast tone to it…kinda corpse-like. Some may consider that a feature, lol…. I have both versions of him now and am yet undecided on whether or not it was a good idea.

In that video, Emily also stated that the O-ring figures are $20 each. She says the Skystriker comes with $100 worth of figures and then states there are 5 figures included. I cannot imagine passing up a Classified figure to get an O-ring figure that's $2 cheaper. I'm glad that Hasbro is showing GI Joe some love but I worry that the popularity of Classified and the early waves of the Retro line have them high on their own supply.

Surprisingly it doesn't look completely ridiculous.
Also, there is more and better discussion on gi joe in this one thread than all of hisstank.com.

If true I also think $20 a pop would kill a Retro O-Ring line. I’d love to get some recreations of my favorite ARAH figures but not at $20 per figure. Disappointed that the Walmart Retro line is on hold but more savings for me.

I was going to save a couple of bucks and pass on this guy since I had the first version, but I’m 100% glad that I didn’t. Total badass all geared up   :

Yeah…somehow I can’t go back into some of the previous lines I used to collect like 3 3/4 inch Joes and Star Wars.

My last 3 3/4 line was the Marvel Universe line? Or the last Joe movie line with the Rock starring? I’m being spoilt by the 6-7 inch lines….so much so that I can’t appreciate other scaled smaller lines like Robot Spirits.

Tbh even if I collect 3 3/4 inch Joes, I’m having reservations of them using O-rings. Hasbro should do what Mattel did with their MOTU Origins line…aesthetically the same but use more durable materials.

Barbecue from target got delivered and found this at a dd’s discount (they often get the same toys as Ross Dress for Less, but sometimes cheaper).

Can’t find the few world’s smallest joes I picked up last year, but I think they might fit inside the helicopter.

Also picked up that green fortnite plastic patroller, which I presume is inspired as an oversized version of those cheap, green, static, army troopers that some kids used to melt with magnifying glasses. So, the figure naturally seems like someone barbecue would protect.
