That's great news, hopefully it will allow GI Joe to start pushing more product, even without movie tie-ins.
I think this bodes well for the future of the line if they're putting a guy like Warden in charge. Hopefully he's not stretched too thin as he's still got Power Rangers and Ghostbusters under his belt too.
This is unbelievably good news. If anyone can pull GI Joe out of the ditch and get it back on track it's Warden. Now then, let's get us those Cobra Island Wave 1 and 2 figures sooner rather than later!
While I’m pleased Warden will be handling Joes, I’m sad that he’s leaving TFs (?). The last few series (Siege, War, Kingdom, SS86) have been one of the best TF releases ever. *However the period between ‘09 or ‘10 still ranks as probably the best in terms of engineering, sculpting etc for me.
If Warden can give us anything similar to the WFC trilogy for GI Joe, I'd be one happy collector. Personally though, I hope Hasbro gives the 3 3/4 line a relaunch, because even though the 6-inch line is great so far, deep down GI Joe to me will always be at its best in the 3 3/4 scale.
That is actually the period where he was part of the Joe team. Part of me thinks this may be why Warden was brought back onboard. 40th anniversary of ARAH is next year. Best to have someone intimately familiar with the brand in charge for product timed with an anniversary like that.
While that may be true - given some of the discussions from people from Hasbro and insiders on the board regarding timelines - that may mean Warden's impact won't really hit in time for the 40th rollout, unless of course they're going for a bunch of re-releases of some of the older popular figures and vehicles/playsets (not that I'm against any of that)
On the one side it will be great if Warden sets a new course for this line. But how many people will they cheese off if Warden basically resets it and releases new versions of figures that collectors already spent weeks chasing down?
The outcome will probably be the same as when the initial info of a 6 inch Joe line originally leaked: a handful of people will decide the direction of the line based on their personal ideas/wishlists while having no idea of what's really happening, imply to others of the same mindset that their personal ideas/wishlists will be fullfilled, and then complain endlessly when that criteria isn't met. That sound about right or did I miss anything from the last year?
Oh man, I'm giving hope of getting any Classified Vipers in my country...and just solely go with the Cobra Infantry soldiers. Yeah, I agree with you that 3 3/4 inch scale is the best in terms of playability with extras, weapons, playsets and vehicles. However, I have been so spoilt with 6 inch scale - especially with the universe building with the other toylines. Example, Marvel Legends, Star Wars, DC Universe, MOTU (a tad bigger). I hope he uses the ARAH aesthetics in the Classified line. Another issue is distribution too...
This is probably more out of convenience for Habro. I doubt he was brought back on board as much as he had the responsibility delegated to him. He runs PR and GB, neither of which is anywhere near The Big Three for Hasbro. Word is the old brand manager left for a job with Amazon. So Warden inherits another small brand and a new team member. Not that I mean to imply any negativity for the change, but it might just be a happy coincidence. But don't start counting your chickens, just yet. Wait and see what their plans are, first. Hopefully, we get some word of CI finally coming off Target's planogram, so fan channels can carry it.
