I'm not going to hold my breath but, I would love the new Fatal Fury game to be gloriously drawn in sprites

Good to see Fatal Fury making a long overdue return.

Also, Kimberly and Juri reveals for SF6 -

How Capcom designed Kimberly and Juri for Street Fighter 6

Juri's stage is the best we've seen so far, love that we are finally getting some decent looking backgrounds in 2.5D fighting games now.

kimberly might be the most innovative thing capcom has done in a long while. a new female with the moveset of a classic character, updated for the 2020s. plenty of new tricks too from the video.

I really do enjoy when a new, diverse, and modernly updated character can be added to a game on the basis that they look & move frikking awesome and not have any associated agendas outside of being a badass character.

Agreed. I always look forward to a new Street Fighter but they’re not always successful. I think Kim will have lasting power. She looks fun to play and has a distinct+interesting look.

I got more faith that SNK will progress the storyline. From what I heard, one of the reasons King of Fighters doesn't try changing the stories of the Fatal Fury bunch much (despite being in a different universe, the main branch being if Geese Howard lives or dies) is they want to give the FF team a chance to do their own story and not step on their toes.

Just a heads up for all the Tekken FanBoys here (I swear I'm the only one lol:D ) but the Tekken: Bloodline anime is now available on Netflix. It's only six 30min episodes and is pretty good for what it is. Pretty much covers Tekken lore and takes place during Tekken 3. What's odd to me is they added Characters from newer Tekkens in this anime.

I just got done watching it and it's a good watch.

(If you're into drinking games,Take a drink everytime you see a Triangle. Hahahah!)

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll have to check it out. Won’t take much to outdo Tekken: The Movie.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Namco mandated the use of newer characters no matter what time the show was based in, just to promote the most recent games.

garou 2 really needs to be unique from kof 15.

I really hope snk comes out swinging on this one and shocks the fighting game world with a HD 2d art driven game. Not pixels, but HD hand drawn art.
They know their market on this one, it is for long time fans and hardcore fighting game nerds. Give us a proper 2020s update and leave the 3D world for the KOF franchise.

Completely agreed. I think pushing the limits in the direction of hand drawn 2D art would get mainstream gamer attention (which is absolutely necessary for this to be a success). It's just the costs involved make it questionable if it's even doable. We'll see but a 3D polygonal Garou that looks too similar to KOF won't move the needle. Fighting game fans want this but it's still a gamble because even they can easily turn their back on it when stuff like SF6 and whatever else shows up.

Somebody recently found a couple of CD-Rs of development assets from the Garou 2 that was being worked on at the time the original SNK went bust, would be hilarious if they actually just finished that and I don't think most people would actually mind if that was the case.

I can't see them doing another HD 2D game after what KOF12 and 13 did to them though, but they definitely need to make it look better then KOF15 and that shouldn't be too much of a problem for at least the initial release if they give it the same budget but with less characters.

I don't see any major developer making any sprite based fighters ever again, in the future. It's just not cost and time efficient. I'd love for them to do that, but it just won't happen.

You're both right. Fighting game fans would be ecstatic to see a smooth spirited based Garou 2, but the support for KOF XIII wasn't there when they needed it, and they sure probably didn't forget that. "Gamble", like Ramberk said, is the most apt word here.

I know I never shut the fuck up about the game, but since it's just been officially rereleased for the first time since it was new, check out SNES Tournament Fighters if you like fast hard hitting games like Super Turbo and haven't played it before. Here's some tourney footage if you've never seen it played seriously before -

I gather that the input lag is pretty hideous on some versions of that TMNT collection though, so usual disclaimer to play it on better emulators or FGPA instead if you have them.
