    The Etnarium
    Update December 2, 2012

This is the Etnarium, the legendary hammer that makes and unmakes all.

I never had the intention of creating this model in the beginning, but after a number of requests
(and the fact that some third party companies are taking a little too long creating their own large hammers)
I decided to get to work. Besides, I had little spare time that day.

After closely observing the structure of the in show model I realised this is something that can only be
expressed perfectly with the marvels of 3D printing. Standard injection molding processes will not be able
to give that level of accuracy that I placed into the current model.

The Etnarium measures 163 mm in height, 112 mm wide and 40 mm in diameter for each hammer head.
It is one of the largest models I have available in Shapeways. The handle is a standard 5mm diameter rod.

This artefact is so heavy that FE Optimus could just barely hold it firmly in his hands.

    Assembly Instructions

Putting the hammer together should be simple enough. Most of the connectors are standard 5mm diameter
pegs except of the base handle piece which attaches with a 3mm peg. My own sample fitted very well and
I did not need to do much tweaking. However, feel free to shave down any peg that feels too tight before
putting it in. The pieces should fit snugly but just enough that the ends of the hammerhead can still rotate.

This is a massive model, but I managed to make most of the model hollow to save on material.
Be sure to remove all loose powder on the internals before assembly.

    Potential Problems

As I mentioned above, this thing is heavy. FE Optimus could barely hold it up. Unfortunately, my
Powerizer Megatron's elbows are too weak to support the hammer's weight, but I think a bit of superglue
will tighten them back up. Also, his open hand design could not hold my first sample properly, but I have added
'all round' sections on parts of the handle so that he can hold on to it for the latest version.

Edit: Here are a few more shots, courtesy of my buddy Greg who is magnanimous enough to
invest in an FUD print and took a few pictures of it.

He has given feedback that the FUD version had no issues whatsoever; nothing broke and everything assembled well.
Those who are willing to spend the coin on that material can take some comfort in that.

Golly, to take these photos with a clear Optimus is a touch of sheer genius.

This model has been tested successfully in White Strong Flexible, and that material is highly recommended.

This is another great looking piece:thumb

Will you be releasing sets later on down the road or will the one-offs continue--nothing wrong with that mind you (would like to save every little bit I can whenever possible).

As the legendary Stone Cold Steve Austin would say: “OH, HELL YEAH!!!”

Since the Forge is perfectly sized for a Leader-Class figure, I can have my Cybertron Leader Optimus and Galvatron fighting over it.

Well done. I commend your work and would like to get a few of your stuff including this, the Prime Star Saber, and Dreadwing's BFG/sword (If I can EVER find Dreadwing!)

It's too bad the shapeways stuff can't be painted. it's the ONLY thing stopping me from buying anything. :(

I have zero experience painting things sadly.

I'm a painting noob, but as long as you make sure you use appropriate thickness with your paints, and have the right brushes, it's not too bad...

    (Don't forget to mask!)

Don't let that stop you then. I've painted the WSF material several times. Even FB's hand sets which are tiny parts.

He profit from it not as much as yu expect, also i pretty sure that this hammer is non-profit cause the expensive pricetag, if i'm right i read this somewhere on tfw

    and painting shapeways-stuff is supereasy!
