As you remember, in the movie there were 3 Dreads. Crankcase, Crowbar and Hatchet. However in the Transformers: Dark of the Moon Novel, I believe there an additional four members included during the highway chase. I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy, so I've decided to ask you guys. For anyone who has read the novel, can you fill me in on any notable information on these additional dreads, (I.E. Vehicle Mode, Names, When they appeared, How they looked, Deaths, or anything else that was interesting or unique) Thanks.
I don't have the novel either but I heard that one or two crashed into iron hide and died. I hated them in the film but that makes the film versions sound like supermen.
In the book... one is killed by dutch who backs his car over him lol The other 2 are killed by Bee,Dino and Swipe. hen the backup dreads come into play and Ironhide makes quick work of them before being scolded by the Twins for not saving any for them lol
I thought the Dreads were cool. I hope they release the other two in deluxe figures. We have them as cyberverse and play with those but if they are released as deluxes, I hope they change into Chevy Suburbans as well. Not digging how Hatchet is three times the size of Crankcase and Crowbar and he is the first to get killed in the movie. I'm tempted to use one of my 5 dollar off coupons to get a second deluxe Crankcase to have an extra Suburban to chase Bumblebee around with.
I liked the movie version. Ironhide just stands in the road and they drive into him in the novel. I much prefer Ironhide shooting crowbar in the face and then stabbing crankcase in the face with Crowbars spear bomb.
I bought a second Crankcase nd took a razor blade to his head to mke it look more like Crowbar, also removed the dreadlocks
I would hav perfered Dino & Swipe both taking down Hatchet together, of course with them fighting it out before putin his spark out
The Dreads' depiction in the novel made an impressive amount of no sense. Crankcase, Crowbar, and Hatchet are referred to as the "Dreads" and they start out on the moon. They cling to the Autobot ship as it flies back to Earth, then sneak away and meet Megatron. Megatron gives them some kind of orders, and then we have the highway battle sequence where they get killed one by one. And then five more Dreads show up for no reason. So...what was the point of all that "Dreads come from the moon" buildup, Peter? Wonder if some of that is author's embellishment clashing with whatever draft of the script he was working from. That's the kind of thing you are supposed to catch, editors.
I just noticed that Crankcase and Crowbar are pretty much Ironhide's only noticeable kills in the trilogy.
I thought the point of the Dreads was to sell toys. Bring on Deluxe Crowbar and Hatchet with correct alt modes.
To look like BOSSES....and I think Crowbar can "Whip his hair back and forth!" and pull a SURPISE HAIR WHIP ATTACK!!!! Edit:Is it just me...or do I want to see a Weird Al-ish Dread?(See my sig. if you don't know who Weird Al is.. )
