Waitatick...what's the variant for Friendly Neighborhood SM #2 then? They've all been the same art/picture, just the various SM outfits...regular/black/Reilly/?/Scarlet...what'd I miss?

And can they really drag this out for TWELVE friggin' issues? That would make it worse than McFarlane's Adjectiveless Spider-Man #1 cover.

FNSM#2's variant cover is the "Amazing Bag Man". You can see the image of that cover at this article at Newsarama. The story behind the "Bag Man" costume (for those that don't know) is that when Spidey's original black costume was discovered to actually be alive, Spidey handed it over to the Fantastic Four to be studied. Torch gave Spidey an old FF costume and a paper bag for a mask to wear for his trip home.

I think it might be possible for them to use this styled cover for all 12 variant covers. There are still several Spidey costumes or appearances that they can choose from...

And the spare Fantastic Four uniform with the paper bag over his head. I'd buy that one in a heartbeat !

I stopped reading Spider-Man comics right after Reilley was killed. Things just got too confusing..

Does anyone else think that these variant costume covers are a build-up to the upcoming issue where Spider-Man gets a new costume?

were that true, Id find Avi Arad myself and hurt him. WOuldn't kill him, just hurt him. Killing wouldn't allow him to see the horrible fan backlash and SM sales plummet.

Meh, it's not like it'll be kept for a decade. Black costume lasted what, 6 years? And he kept switching back and forth between the black and the red-and-blue during those years until they introduced Venom. And the Ben Reilly one lasted for about a year.

Ben Reilly, Spider-man 2099.... different characters, so the costumes were fine. Especially Reillys, which was KICKASS.

As long as it doesn't have a doofy Robin mask I'm happy.

Given that Stark's designing it i'm betting it's some kind of suped-up Spider-armor. Not like if it was a new costume altogether it would stick.

    ... I hope he gets a cape. :p
