Hmmm...looks like I may try going back into the other Spidey titles (besides Ultimate Spiderman).

I love the character, but I dunno any serious way to bring him back...besides another clone.;)

    Not funny.

If those test results we see Peter get in "The Other" parts 1-3 just say, "Yeah, he's a clone, and he's dying fast"...I'm giving up on Spider-Man comics. Like, indefinitely.

Also, didn't Marvel offer a retraction of the whole Clone saga? Something along the lines of, "Yeah, looking back, we feel dumb for publishing it...we'll never mention it again, it's out of continuity, please don't bring it up anymore"?

Seriously. If "The Other" ends up being a clone story instead of a Morlun/Peter-losing-his-powers-again yarn...

I really hope it doesn't turn out that Peter is a clone because that would pretty much shit all over everything JMS wrote in Amazing up til now. But it's called "The Other" and I had guessed they might do something with Ben Reilly, so I'm hoping they have him come back or something, just not have him actually be Peter this whole time.

Also, I'm not sure about retractions on the clone saga, but a couple of Spiderman paperbacks I read have passing mentions of Ben Reilly every now and then.

But then again, they also did a black costume variant cover for this storyline, so unless they're bringing that back too, I don't think there's reason to worry.

I just pegged "The Other" as being Morlun, ie, "Neo-Venom."

But maybe that's exactly what Marvel WANTED us to think...hm...

I doubt that these covers have anything to do with the story. Seeing that these are variant covers/second printings, it looks like Marvel is just taking the opportunity to show Spidey in some of the different costumes he's had over the years. I find it highly unlikely that Spidey would ever wear his black costume again, given his history with Venom, or that Ben Reilly would ever return.

God, I hope this signals the overdue return of Ben Reilly. If he comes back I can finally end my total boycott of the Spidey books, which has been ongoing ever since they killed off Ben (just as well, given what I've heard about Byrne's run).

If Ben is back, I damn well want to see the red jumpsuit and blue sweatshirt back in action. :rock

    ^^^

Yeah, I don't think any of these variant covers have anything to do with the story. Doc Ock isn't in the story either but there he is on the cover..sort of.

They're just milking the multiple print/cover thing, which is really starting to get out of hand, early 90s style.

    :sly2:

Odd...my boycott began shortly after he was introduced. I don't want to see that fool even mentioned again, let alone brought back. Bendis can play around with the clone business in USM, but for the love of God, keep it out of ASM. That would just bring Straczynski's entire run crashing down into a ginormous pile of wasted time.

It's just a variant cover thing.

I want Ben to come back and say, as his first line:

"Hello! I am in fact a CLONE of Ben Reilly!"

    I read... But I don't get it.

A mysterious character, whith a mysterious agenda whose identity is unknown and who Spidey defeats by being his sneaky-geeky self.

Doesn't say much... He looks like a young Traveler in a snappy trenchcoat more likely to hang around supermodels and play polo than beating the snot out of superheroes and absorbing their radiated animal powers.

Also. Didn't the whole "spider totem" thingy (what I understand) from what I get end whit this "spider queen" (nevermind that spiders doesn't live in communities) thingy that made peter turn into a giant spider and end in organic webshooters?

What kind of change would this thing go about and do really?

I heard that they were going to get John Byrne and Todd McFarlane to do a sequel to the clone saga where the real Aunt May turns out to be a clone of the fake, Ben Riley comes back and gets married to a zombie Gwen Stacy, Kaine turns out to be Uncle Ben and Peter Parker gets a liberal arts degree.

Its going to be called The Aristocrats.

DAMMIT! NowI want to read the clone saga but all the comics are 450 miles away! All I have here is the reprint of Web of Spidey where Ben dons the Scarlet Spider gear,
