Two parts? Ugh. Why not just let go of the 1 hour 15 minutes thing already and simply make longer movies? At least this is looking pretty damn good. Really dug Year One, so I'll be looking forward to this. Kind of wish that they would have made an adaptation of the Long Halloween first though.
I don't mind it being two parts, but that means I'll pirate the first half until both parts are available on the same DVD/Blu-Ray disc.
The animation looks great. Not sure how I feel about Batman sounding like Robocop but at this point I think I just don't like anyone who isn't Kevin Conroy . I will watch it on Rogers on Demand and will pick up the Blu Ray if they release one with both parts.
I actually think this is a brilliant casting choice; he makes for a good grizzled Batman, and DKR came out in '86, while RoboCop came out in '87. It just works. I always love when Conroy gets to voice Batman, but I see him as a better Batman than Miller's version(s).
I'm the same way. Any time I hear an animated version of Batman speak and Conroy's voice doesn't come out of his mouth it sounds totally wrong to me.
I'm fine with people other than Conroy doing the voice, and in fact, for some versions of Batman, I don't think Conroy fits. But I don't like this new voice at all. Nor Gordon's. On the other hand, I hate to be a stick in the mud, but I'm not sure why DKR needs to be adapted into animation in the first place. Whatever they do with it isn't going to be an improvement over the book, which I can read anytime anyway. So I don't see the point. I'd rather see them animate original stories, to be honest.
They could have gone back to Michael Ironside, who voiced DKR Bats in the "Legends of the Dark Knight" TNBA episode, but apparently Andrea Romano really wanted Weller. Hey, whatever Andrea wants, she should get.
The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 DVD / Blu-Ray Cover Here is the cover for The Dark Knight Returns Book One Do you see a familiar pattern in the image.
Well, he's the right age, at least. I don't know why I'm not feeling it. By the way, that is the most weirdly out of place cover art they ever could have come up with for this story. Who approved that? Has the artist even ever read DKR?
