That's the only reason I am not buying any of the ROTF toy now. I look at Leader OP and his paint is cheap compared to Premium Prime from the first movie. I don't want to do the same mistake from the first movie.

Sideswap look kinda Premium quality from the picture, any confirmation?

Didn't the Premiums come about because the line was so successful and there was nothing new to be released? If so, then the RotF line seems like its prepared for a high success rate and has a lot more stuff in it than TF1's release.

I highly, highly doubt there'll be a Premium line for ROTF. The Premium line was created for the first movie because Hasbro did not anticipate its success, and it would take far too long to create new molds for the line, so they just repainted the same ones over and over. That's how we ended up with Jazz, Premium Jazz, Damaged Jazz, Allspark Blue Jazz, G1 Jazz, and so forth.

This time Hasbro is better prepared, and there are already dozens of molds shown for dozens of characters. I really wouldn't expect a Premium line this time.

    ^Right Starscream1701, and MaxGoof

Premiums were entirely a result of retailer demand. The reason the original figures did'nt have the glossy applications to begin with I'd lend to being yet another untested movie line. Stuff like "Hulk" "Pirates of the Carribean" and "Speed Racer" had sparce paint investments in case the toy line bombs with the film.

But I supported the premiums because retailers could have just demanded the summer '07 stuff be resupplied as that sold so well.

Go pick up your Revenge of the Fallen figures. I imagine there will be repaints but it won't be as simple as the premium line. It looks like we are getting more retools and extras in the long run.

I honestly hope not. It was frustrating getting a lot of the figures at the initial release for the last movie, then a short time later a 'better' version came out.

If there are 'premiums', then store exclusives would be the best place for them.

But from the look of it, only Sideswap seem to have glossy paints. I look at Leader OP and see all his gray parts being unpainted plastic.

Aside from Leader Megatron, I kinda really didn't like the Premium repaints for the first movie; actually prefer the originals.

Hasbro has confirmed in one of the boards Q&A that there will be RotF Premiums, but there has been no word of who will be getting the treatment. I think Sideswipe is one of the few that is save, as his paint job is pretty good as-is. Prime, Megatron, and Sideways on the other hand, could benefit from a Premium paint job. Well, at least I think they could.

Sideways would benefit a lot from premium colors, also Voyager Megs and probably cannon bumblebee.

Chances are high. Personally, I don't care for them like I did last time. Prime comes with a sword this time? Fine. That's enough for me.

Not counting Robot Replicas and keychains, I'll hold off on buying any RotF figures until I know if/when Premiums come out and who'll get the Premium treatment. I gave in and figured I'd get the new Leader Prime because I want one an individual Jetfire and a separate Jetfire to combine with Prime...but the Prime paint job is less than inspiring. Megatron looks blah to me, and I'm undecided on what I think of The Fallen.

It'd be nice if Hasbro could find some more consistency in the paint jobs (and make them good) for Megatron. I find it odd that I have Premium Leader, Robot Replica, 3-inch Titanium and Keychain Megatron and the paint jobs all look different from each other (the 3-inch and Leader at least look similar). I don't think any incorporated the gold aspects that you could spot in the first film either.

FYI, Sideswipe's paint job is almost as crappy as premium jazz's.
