That's what I came in here to say. The ride explicitly states that he's Grindor. Blackout died in the first movie.

Well you could say that it explicitly states that it's Grindor in the Revenge of the Fallen Video Game? But remember the internal files for the Revenge of the Fallen video game identify the character as Blackout, indicating that the game had been developed with the understanding that they were the same character. And as the for the Voyager toy, well Thundercracker, Barricade and Brawl were all included in the ROTF toyline but weren't in the movie. It's definitely worth taking all my points I have included in the thread into consideration.

He was named Grindor for toy marketing purposes. It was the same mold, why do you want two Blackout toys exactly the same.

The only difference was the colour and name.

What exactly are people looking for in these films? Continuity?

Just remember the philosophy of the filmmakers: never let a silly thing like 'continuity' interfere with story telling.

Not saying I agree, but just sayin'.

Yeah your right, there not exactly going to release the exact same Blackout toy otherwise Hasbro wouldn't exactly make any money.

I remember reading somewhere before the movie the name "Grindor" was only used to cover up Blackout's return. So I guess that's why the toy was named that and why the different color scheme was brought to the table.

I think they pretty much repainted and rereleased all the other voyager figures.

Ratchet definetly! I wish they buffed the deluxe mould up :(

Ironhide got a new design in DOTM but that's not AS good as the last.

It really doesn't matter. It's not like either Blackout and Grindor were fleshed out characters. Neither one really talked, they look exactly the same, and the general audience probably just said a collective, 'hey the helicoptor robot's back. Cool.'
The only real difference is that Blackout died do to a crotch shot by a human, and Grindor got his face ripped apart by Optimus.
Point goes to Grindor for the better death.

^ You're forgetting the simultaneous airstrike to Blackout's spark.

Well I can see where your coming from but in ROTF the Character is heavily detailed with dirt and rust so why detail a character like that if he wasn't intended to be Blackout?

I mean look at the photo:

He seems heavily detailed to me. I mean why the they detail him so much if he was intended to be a new character?

Also I found this very interesting!

Because it's two years later and the CGI had improved to allow for additional details?

You're making a very big deal out of it considering he's just a model reuse.

    I suppose I was.
The only thing which stands out for me is Blackout going down from a shot to crotch, and then I just lose respect for him after that. LOL!

Well I didn't think l was making a big deal out if it? What I don't get why detail the character with rust and dirt if the character wasn't meant to be Blackout? That's all I'm saying, why didnt they just leave his model clean then?
