I can't think of a more Michael Bay design than this: ridiculously overdone alt mode, robot mode littered with pieces jutting out throughout, a roof rack just so he can carry around a case of missiles, and "BEE-OTCH" plastered on his front license plate.

I'm so glad Travis Knight was brought on board.

 

Good grief that Bee looks... pretty bad. I see what they were trying to do, but it really looks wonky. I kinda like the big Autobot symbol badge on the side of the car, but it's not necessary.

 

Wait, is this official? Not gonna lie it looks bad, he looks like Baybee in a cheap cosplay of Bugbee 2 sizes too big for him

That's...quite the interesting Bumblebee design. It's weird, he almost looks bulkier than Camaro-Bee, although the VW should have less mass. There are some fun details in there, like his cannons being stored in boxes on top of the car. Overall, it kind of looks like a fan design though. Just too much clutter and unnecessary details. I'm really glad we got the design we got. I'm curious what the context behind this is. Was this from Bay being more involved, or was it just tossing around ideas?

An artist had a concept art of Prime from Bumblebee which looked close to this final look with the text "coming soon" plastered on it so perhaps there's some kind of embargo? Not sure.

There is a potential plan to actually use him in future films now that Bumblebee is confirmed to be a reboot and they don't want to spoil his "possibly canon" appearance.

 

Embargos when it comes to posting concept art done for companies is very real. I recall all the way back in the day of RID2015 the lead character designer saying he couldn't wait until he was allowed to post stuff.

 

Looks interesting. I would have been down either way. It looks nice, but I prefer this design to stick to the Camaro. What we got is fine. The Bee movie design may not be my favorite design for Bee, but I will continue to stress that it is a good combination of Movieverse and G1 designs.
