    I don't like it as much as the final version, but it's not bad for an early attempt. I do like the way he handled the wheels on the lower legs.

    Is it weird that I like this more than a lot of the full-on robot concepts? It has a lot of character to it.

    Cripes you guys just exchange digits and lets get on with the thread.


    I wonder if these designs get made "in bits", that is, they design a leg, then a head, then an arm, and then just plop them together at the start and mix and match the pieces. That optimus seems like his torso/limbs/head don't quite match up, but its interesting how the joints were designed a lot lighter than the final version. I think adding "weight" to the body is a common thing we've seen for several characters as they moved from concept to on-screen appearance.
