MP Soundwave, although I don't have most of the other figures people have listed here. Might say Fort Maxx if I had it.

This, almost exactly! Jetfire would be a favorite/perfect G1 figure.

MP-10 Optimus and MP Soundwave are pretty darn near perfect as well.

    Sentimental "best ever:"
Beast Wars Ultra Class Optimus Primal.
    -Bulky, satisfying, fun gorilla mode
    -Clever gimmicks
    -Lots of accessories
-Simple but smooth and satisfying transformation
-Awesome looking bot mode with great articulation
-One of the greatest head sculpts in TF history

    Objective "best ever"

    MP-10 Prime

    G1 Blot.

As a robot he is a complete disproportionate brick with stubby arms, a tiny block head, and tons of kibble; he has an indiscernible alt-mode that needs an extra mounting (which is useless in robot mode) to mount his gun; and for bonus points, he turns into a horribly proportioned arm or leg for Abominus. Oh, and he's purple.

I dare anyone to top that!

G1 Soundwave. Sweet robot mode with above average articulation. He came with so many accessories, and he had a minion army that could interact directly with him. Plus he had a real world (for the time) alt mode that made him the pinnacle of the whole "robots in disguise" idea.
I'd probably tie him with MP Soundwave, who also had a minion army just like the G1 toy, but also gave you the option of either adhering to the toy or the cartoon aesthetic depending on which version you bought.

Hmm, I may need to re-examine my G1 Blot in an entirely new light now.

I could say mp 10 because the sheer optimussness of his robot mode makes me a kid again every time i see him standing there. Also his midriff transformation makes me smile everytime. The way the tires flip away to avoid being kibble and at the same time turn a very square shape into your typical hero chest shape is just inspired.

I could say, as has been said above, big convoy because it should be a ridiculous mess like the rest of its line (I mean, theyre awesome but also ridiculous) but somehow he pulls it off and looks like an elephant that explodes into a stone cold badass. And thats never not good.

But instead of those I will go for the very unassuming prid deluxe vehicon from transformers prime. That toy is an absolute masterclass of how to get the most out of a size/price class. The robot/car mode both evoke the show models spirit very nicely for a deluxe toy and the transformation is just a joy. Such a departure from the regular carformer transformation and ending up with very little in the way of kibble.

I'm going to go with Alternity Thundercracker as a contender.

Alt mode is a mitsuoka orochi, creepy and gorgeous, looks like it belongs in an H R Giger dreamscape.

Bot mode is... dare I say, almost pretty? Long limbs, and the doors fan out into almost a butterfly configuration.

I singled Thundercracker out because of that delicious metallic blue paint, but Skywarp or even Banzaitron are pretty awesome too. Just a great mold.

Oh yeah, I wasn't even thinking about Alternity. But Alternity Bumble might be, for my money, the best Bumblebee toy ever made. Outstanding in both modes, with some die-cast, rubber tires, and a legit molded interior, with a crazy involved transformation. It is a flawless toy. Man, I wish we would get a continuation of Alternity with some new molds.

Agreed. There are definitely quite a few gems to be found in the Alternity series. The materials and attention to detail are of such a high quality, it still takes my breath away. Especially when I have been handling plastic Hasbro bots for awhile, and then one day I take out my Skywarp while rearranging my case. Jaw drops every time! :D
