personally i liked the ww2 costume more, and i wished they had just kept that
Like the ww2 costume more but ain't gonna let that ruin the movie.
I like both costumes equally, for different reasons. This one makes him seem way more heroic, while the old one was more of a 'combat-ready' type of suit. They're both fantastic designs, IMO. I think this one is going to work better with the Avengers, and overall it looks like a way more advanced type of suit.
One of the first artwork posters (see on pg 19 of this thread) showed the helmet with open ears. The more recent one has covered ears as does the actual helmet. I wonder if that's my hang up on the modern costume? I guess I'll have to wait and see how it looks in the movie and in action as opposed to some set photos.

Looks like he's fighting some skrulls.
Now we know who is using that gun from the other picture.
There goes a damn good plot for an FF reboot. It honestly sounds like there's going to be too much stuff in this movie. And that it's essentially turning into an alien invasion movie rather than a retelling of how the Avengers originally gathered... Rawr fanboyism.
we don't know for sure that skrulls are going to be in this, it could be anybody
The way that Marvel has gone about making the suits in their movies seem very practical is a big reason why the movies mostly work. Updating Captain America's costume to make it fit in with the modern era is tricky since many fans are attached to one form of it. I think they've done a good job with it, but am still wondering why they include so much gray/silver on it, as compared to using white for the color blocking and accents. The only reason I can think of is that silver pops more on the screen than white.
Im much more of a fan of the older costume on cap. With the new cap I have little quirks like the shoulder chrome and the sheriff star on his chest but dont hate it all together.
ummm, he has always had the star on his chest.
I do like all of his movie costumes. They each have their own awesome look to them. I will also make note that I like how they don't have built on wings. They really made it work out well, especially on the modern day one.
I can't wait to get the toys for this movie. Ever since we saw the first three at Comic-Con, I've been excited.
I understand that heh Just looks like a wild west sheriff star to me. Not saying I dont dislike the design overall. Just have small nitpicks but they dont ruin it for me.
Wow bro, deep breaths. He's a fictional character. You don't need to be afraid
They really could have made the star on the chest be consistent with his CATFA uniform by making it white, but I think they wanted something that would look modern and pop on screen. Another thing that sort of bugs me is his shield doesn't seem to actually have white on it, it's more of a silver than a white. It could also be that it's like a metallic white, but a more matte white would really make it look like his true shield.
New, awesome pictures from the set reveal Captain America and Thor working together!
Maybe we'll get to see Robert Downey Jr. in his Iron Man armor soon.
But right now, everything looks perfect to me. I think Cap's suit looks perfect. I love how they kept Thor's suit the same, mostly. All they did was change a few things, mainly the pants. Fuck, Marvel Studios is winning so much right now.
Why not a post a video of this awesomeness?
Captain America and Thor Battle in The Avengers Movie - YouTube
I can watch this all day when I have the time of course.
Unfortunately, Robert Downey Jr's done filming unless they bring him back for post production.
Another piece of awesome news is that the film will have a apnel among other things this weekend at the Disney convention D23.
He's done already? This saddens my heart. I was hoping for some more on set pics with him, Evans, and Hemsworth together.
But they're done filming pretty soon, so oh well.
I wonder who those two actors in motion capture suits were playing. Skrulls perhaps? Looks like Cap got a beat down and Thor swooped in and saved him.
