The G1 cartoon never gave a specific location, but the G1 comics said it was the US State of Oregon.

Look at how beautiful it is. G1 definitely got a great choice of Autobot base.

Traditionally, idealist heroes have something they find beautiful to defend. The G1 Autobots seem to have found a haven, an isolated and uncrowded one maybe but still definitely a place they can call home.

i tend to notice the west coast or northwest tends to be the place where most Transformers series take place.

    G1 - Oregon
    Armada - Nebraska
    Cybertron - Colorado
    Prime - Nevada
    Live-Action Movies (Sam's hometown, Charlie's hometown) - California

I can get why because near the ocean, very scenic and also very mountainous and often in the desert which makes it easier to mask Transformers activities

    Lincoln, Nebraska - Transformers Wiki

I know, kinda surprised me too, i thought it was in Colorado or somewhere a bit more inside the Rockies, like in Cybertron but nope it's apparently Nebraska. I assume it's probably in the western part of it.

I liked how Cybertron and Animated showed the Autobots being in awe of nature more than some of the other shows. Armada had some scenes, and G1 had some episodes as well.

IIRC in early IDW the Autobots also touched down in Tennessee, at least temporarily.

Lincoln is very much eastern Nebraska and, unfortunately, isn't known for its abundance of cave systems.

Considering Mount Saint Hillary was a reference to Mount Saint Helens, it would make more sense for G1 to take place one state to the north. Here in Oregon we've got plenty of old volcanos, Mount Hood maybe the most well known, but Mount Saint Helens is actually in Washington

True but I always felt that it was more a reference to the event than the actual location

Meaning Hillary was not supposed to be a Standen for Helen much like Metropolis is not a stand-in for New York City

I feel the writers wanted to invoke the The event at Mount Saint Helens without directly referencing it for the state it occurred in…….But at the same time draw enough of a connection to it by using a somewhat similar name and a Not too distant location

Oregon is kind of nice too, in the sense that it has a ton of different ecosystems/environments. It’s got oceans, beaches, forests, mountains, volcanos, deserts, snow, rainforests, and even a frickin VORTEX!

    Oregon Vortex

Basically, you can keep the scenery changing every episode. It’s nice.

The folks over at transformersreanimated.com are doing a great job of continuing G1 season 2 by spotlighting different states and countries. They recently did an episode set in Mount Washington, New Hampshire, my home state. I hope they do a spotlight on all of them!

One of the best reasons for G1 Prime to be a tractor trailer. Iconic for the U.S.

Sunbow's Autobot City actually would be located around there cause there is an actual Lookout Mountain in the Appalachians.

I'd kill to see a Transformers series that primarily took place in Canada. there's so much varied locations from the Rockies, The Arctic Tundra, the Canadian Shield, the Atlantic Maritimes, hell even the Greater Horsehoe/Toronto Area including Niagara Falls. there's a lot of great places that can easily hide these robots away from human populace and lots of cool iconography for city wide battles. I mean the Decepticons alone would love to plunder this country dry of its resources.

I think Grimlock's Earthforce from Marvel UK was based in Canada, but I'm not entirely sure. It was somewhere with polar bears.

Solid chance it’s the Great White North. Not super familiar with the comics so I’ll have to look into that, thanks! : )

Well since where the Ark crash into in the G1 cartoon, is a non-active volcano in the middle of a desert, so it kinda near the Oregon's High Desert , also weird that No Transformers media never have the Autobots and Decepticons crash into Louisiana or any other Gulf states.
