The satanic leaf-tailed gekco yes that is its real name. pretty cool looking creature. Another cool looking animal is the Hebridean sheep.
Honestly I don't have a favorite when it comes to the animal kingdom overall (aside from cats). But, I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this bug I saw a few months ago. It's definitely not a bee, but it kind of looks like a fly. Any entomologists here?
Some type of bee fly. There are a number of fly species which mimic bees and wasps in color and appearance.

Yeah so I asked DEC in my state (since it was spotted in a public park) and apparently it is a great egret. And it was spotted in.....drumroll........ New York City!
Yeah, you wouldn't expect it. I was surprised. It was only there because it was over the summer, and New York / Connecticut / New Jersey is the farthest it goes all year.
I'm kind of liking hedgehogs a bit more than I used to. My girlfriend got one for Christmas, and it's a really cute little bugger.
