So this sucks. Got a notice when I woke up today (slept in a bit since I didn't have to get the kids to school, etc.) and saw a notice on my phone that a package had been delivered two hours earlier with a pic showing it by the front door. Check my porch and nothing is there. Looks like someone in the neighborhood porch pirated the package as it was clearly not where the pic showed it and I checked elsewhere and it was nowhere to be seen either. So, am I screwed here or will Amazon replace something that's clearly been stolen? I've never had to deal with a stolen package from Amazon before and have only had to do returns for broken or damaged items so I'm not sure how this is going to go. Right now they've asked me to "wait 24 hours to see if it turns up". Yeah, like that will happen.

It wasn't something for my collection thankfully, but it was something that my daughter bought for $32 with some of her Christmas money. Can't stand fucking porch pirates.

Here's hoping. Going to contact them tomorrow. Really wish I could afford to move out of the complex I'm in currently, but we don't want to move to another complex and it's not a buyer's market when it comes to getting a house right now.

 

True, though that’s been the case for the last six years or so. I bought my first house in 2017 for $280,000 when it had sold in 2011 for half that and lamented that it was a horrible time to buy a house and if only I could have waited. I sold it last year for $405,000. So you don’t really know lol it’s going to settle back down or keep going up.

Yeah. Amazon will always replace it even with that picture, unless your account gets flagged for suspicious behavior.

Their internal systems physically won't let reps process it until a window has passed though.

 

Yes they should replace it. I ordered a leather hole punch for my leather craft side hobby. They had a picture but it was a picture of the wrong door. So once I sent cs in chat a Pic of my door showing my door is black and the one in Pic was white, they refunded my money. And I told them I would put a garden gnome to the left of my doorstep so they know from now on. Funny enough a guy 4 houses down brought it to me 3 days later. I felt kind of bad getting it for free but had it been something nicer they could have kept it. Luckily I've never had 1 porch pirate. Even had a package get delivered on Christmas eve morning after I left for the weekend and didn't get back until Monday afternoon. Was still there. The below freezing temp probably brittled the plastic and will shatter but I've been letting it heat up gradually since to hopefully avoid that situation. Even though I know Amazon will replace it or refund it if it breaks within the next 30 days.

 

If you're distrustful about the place you live in, you could also consider asking them to ship your stuff to an Amazon locker from now on (that is, if they're a thing in your state)

 

That's what I did. Until I joined Amazon key garage where they put packages in your garage. Only works if delivered by Amazon however.

 

I work from home so this generally isn't an issue for me as I'm typically there to bring in packages immediately.

Yeah I had one show up early this morning from Amazon myself. About 7:00am. Surprised it was so early but I guess they are playing catch up.
