Probably cap since Iron man had a legit issue 1. Everything before doesn't really count towards his run.

When Cap got renumbered to the original number the last time...did they use Tales of Suspense?

That's exactly what they did, apparently. Like everything else, it seems weird but is ultimately meaningless and inconsequential anyway. Numbers are the least of the books problems and renumbering won't help anything.

Funny how Marvel reads as "no more diversity" what is basically an audience telling them "stop needlessly wrecking characters that were around since forever". Are those people paid for making wrong conclusions or something?

There would be no reaction against adding more diverse characters if not for the only way of Marvel being capable of doing it being changes to long time existing characters. Gods forbid they tried to launch a few new characters in their own books as their own thing.

They do, but their marketing and the Tumblr crowd don't focus on them. Mosaic got one announcement and was promptly forgotten about. While they're still pushing Falcon now being"Black Captain America" as progressive.

The comic book market is so niche now, that all the big two have are their iconic characters. Simple fact is that with the prices of books being so high and distribution being so narrow, that very few new ideas work for them. Their solution is to replace their top sellers with these new characters, which only serves to alienate their existing reader base.

Budgets were tight when comics when up to 2.99...now they're almost at 4.99 per title, there is zero incentive for long time readers to try anything that is out of their wheelhouse, and you can't blame them for that.

I've said for years release this stuff digitally for cheap. Test out the market that way. If it does well digitally then release a regular series. DC does it all the time now. This is also a way to get readers interested have a free weekly strip on a website like the Wednesdays comic experiment. The problem is they are horrible at marketing to anything but comic stores. So they have trouble getting new readers.
Or heck do what they used to do introduce the characters in a few ongoing series. If the readers like them, they will ask for a series.

Probably just a cover to promote the game. Or a variant.

That's the variant cover (actually says so in the top right corner), and the main cover for that issue has no mention of or reference to the game.

I actually hated the idea of Riri (still a stupid name by any standard) at first, then I read a few of her issues, now I really like her. That said, I want Tony back. We had Jim Rhodes and Tony running around at the same time and no one lost their collective caca. We can have Riri and Tony do the same.

I bolded the part that some people seem to need to have tatted on their heads.

I'm kinda fed up with the Secret Empire. It's long, dark and grim for the sake of being long, dark and grim. I eagerly wait for the Mr Nobody vomiting the Infinity Gauntlet. Because why not? May it at least go down in a trainwreck even bigger than it is.
If this event was the reason for making Cap a Hydra agent... The payoff isn't even worth it.

I wonder how many readers Marvel will lose over this event. Probably still less that they should.

Hell, they lost me the moment they insulted Captain America's creators.
