Same here, saw the ad while on facebook and bit since I only had one game through steam (which ever one has quiplash and fibbage) and 5 and 6 independent of steam. I like to get as much as possible through steam so it's easier to manage.

After several days of attempting to address random WHEA restart/crashes, I think I am going to throw in the towel on AMD. I was really looking forward to coming back to them after a decade away, but these Ryzen CPUs have some major stability issues. I am sure Intel will have their fair share of crap to deal with, but I haven't heard of stability problems anywhere close to the level I am experiencing and reading about. It is absolutely insane.

which cpu are you running? I've been using AMD since 2009 and have never run into any sort of stability issues, currently have a Ryzen 5 1600AF that I've had for about 2 years

Ryzen 7 5800x. I keep getting WHEA 18 restart/crashes on low load tasks (downloading/browsing). Been researching it for days. Stock settings, driver updates, reinstalls... they don't matter. I've seen people comment how they ran out of alternatives and RMAd for a replacement cpu. They claim it fixes the issue then come back weeks or months later reporting that the issue returned. It's clear it's an AMD issue but AMD won't acknowledge it.

I just built a brand new and very expensive machine. The idea of stability hinging on the architecture of the chipset with no sign of manufacturer acknowledgement is not a welcome one. I have a couple of days left on my return window and I'm thinking about taking advantage of that window while I can. The downside is I have very little time to research where Intel and Rocket Lake is at.

That sucks, I guess I've been fortunate to never run into anything like that. Hopefully you can get it figured out. Biggest issue I ever ran into was a Win10 update messing something up so I'd get a bsod almost everytime I tried to update my PC. Got sick of dealing with it and needed to rebuild anyway, so I clean installed windows, that's when I got my Ryzen, haven't had any troubles since

Well I gave up. I spent over a week, day and night, researching and troubleshooting the idle WHEA crashes I was experiencing. I did everything I could, right until the last minute of my return window. The 5800x and Asus Dark Hero have been sent back (a huge PIA to undo all that work).

I got a great deal on a i9-10850k and then ordered an AsRock Z590 Taichi. I know I'm mixing 10th and 11th gen parts, but I couldn't ignore the 10850k deal and I'm not worried about missing out on PCIe 4.0 at the moment.

Sucks to hear, my guy. Thoughts and prayers that the new stuff works way better than what you had to deal with up to now.

You can relatively easily upgrade to an 11th gen processor if/when the need strikes you. For the time being a 10th gen Intel processor will do just fine with just about everything.

My previous build was on an AsRock and it's still running 10 years later. I'm hoping to find the same luck again.

Got a RTX 3060 TI today. I just walked into a Micro Center to get a SSD today and they had a bunch of 3060 TI and 3080 TI in stock.

Damn, dude. 3080s just laying about? Figured they would still be doing their ticket system for those.

The issue is they have an up charge. Not eBay bad but the RTX 3080 TI were going for $1700 USD. Not that great of a deal. The 3060 TI was $150 USD more than what it should be. Thankfully I can sell my 2060 to eat up most of the cost.

Oh. Yeah, not good. I am sure there are those would consider that reasonable with today's market, but to me those are still insane prices.
