Yeah i had some issues as well with devices changing color in their own at boot up. Most times it would go back to all red, sometimes not. When it all works, its awesome! But a nightmare when it doesnt lol

Also hate devices that shut off on their own after a while (speakers, my chair) and using multiple branded products, sometimes colors wont quite match, blues mostly. Products that will boot a certain color every time ya plug it in sucks as well, if they have no on/off button. I have a headphone holder with RGB led lighting but its more annoying than anything. Sometimes USB devices will turn off when ya power down the PC sometimes they will stay on.

Best products ive used with RGB lighting is Steel Series. The software is awesome and the devices all remember what color they should be, even if you unplug them and plug them into something else. They don't make internal components unfortunately.

Thinking of building a new PC. Been eyeing the ROG Maximus XIII Hero LGA 1200. Solid modern board that i can build onto slowly and woild last me many years. Its intel which are pricey but ive always been an intel/nvidia combo guy. Just what I know and prefer, even if AMD is a bit better/cheaper right now. Gotta stick to what i know I think.

But supports series 11 I9 CPUs which are power houses, 4x M.2 slots, built in sound, wifi and on board video would get me back into some older PC gaming until GPUs come down in price. All RGB too and tons of upgrade potential for years to come. I think Id be happy with this mobo. Id be looking at pairing it with the i9 11900K, 8 core 3.5ghz perfect for gaming and little bit of graphic arts and video editing I like to do.

Building a new rig, myself, ironically enough. Team Red though instead of Intel, got a 5900X for a bit more than MSRP a while back. Just gotta pick up my RAM and storage, and i'm just waiting on my case and AIO to arrive (Corsair iCUE 7000X and H170i Capellix Elite). As for GPU, i'm gonna just put my FTW3 1080Ti in there until I can get my hands on a 3090/6900XT.

I'd personally say if you're going with Intel, if possible, keep an eye on the 10900K. The 11 has 2 lesser cores than the 10, and the 10 has shown some gains performance-wise in gaming benchmark comparisons, varying as high as a 13% gain.

As for the Maximus, go for it, either way as it's backwards compatible. Never a wrong choice when it comes to Asus. I personally went with Gigabyte for my new build, specifically the X570 Aorus Xtreme, mainly for the rear I/O and the True 16 phase VRM so everything is super-stable, even after overclocking if I go down that line.

    Best of luck!

That sounds like a sick build. The aura features are really awesome, this would be my first board with the RGB. The last system i had was an Asus Z97 Pro Gamer and i7 4400 i think? Super old lol but lasted me 6 years and paired with an RTX 2080, was still hitting 60fps on the newest Modern Warfare at ultra settings.

Totally bottle necking on other games and software though. So i sold it during the pandemic while prices were high. Now i miss my PC games, and there's some really great ones coming up in the next year or so, Kerbal Space Program 2 for example.(if they're ever able to finish it)

According to the specs on the Z590 XIII Hero, the series 10 CPU's only support PCI-E 3.0 and slower RAM. Also only HDMI 1.4 instead of 2.0 on the onboard video which is no biggie, since I'd be upgrading to a full video card after a while anyways

Ok THIS I did not know, and makes it an interesting gamble for you. Either 2 more cores or PCIe Gen 4... both of which are VERY VERY good. Though when push comes to shove i'd have to say 2 more cores are more valuable over faster PCIe speeds.

Knew it would definitely be something to really delve into, haha.

If you think that you would need to prioritize that over a couple extra cores, by all means go for the 11900K.

It's a hard choice cause they're both SO integral, you get a positive but at the same time the negative is noteworthy. Trust me, when I finally said cores, I had to really sit down and think for a bit LMAO

PCI-E 4.0 is going to be key in the coming years. You could wait about 8-10 months and then reassess the availability of the GPUs before you commit.

Yeah PCIe 4.0 is a must I think. I was checking out how many games use what many cores, and Flight Simulator 2020 only uses 6, most other games only 2 to 4 as well, and a couple at 6. So 8 cores will be plenty.

FS202 is probably gonna be the craziest game I throw at it for the next few years. Maybe Kerbal 2.

Being honest in my opinion, PCIe 4 isn't really important for at least a couple of years, 3-4, my motherboard is PCIe3 with my 3070 and gets pretty much the same frames as PCIe 4 Motherboards

Whatever you do when building a PC, make sure you can get TPM 2.0 or access to it later. Without it, you won't be able to get Windows 11 installed on your PC and they've already signaled when they'll stop supporting Windows 10. It kind of grinds my gears that some people will probably need a new motherboard to keep their PC going. You'd be amazed how many don't know how to retain their license for hardware swaps, how to hardware swap in the first place, and that in a few months to a few years they won't be able to access Windows 11.

So much for that "Windows 10 forever" thing they had going. Could've just rebuilt 10 with the 11 interface...
