That is fantastic. Now that you mention it, I don't think I have ever seen another TM Blurr.

Here is my favorite, 80 Pre Rub Starscream (with friend)

I saw the Skids on eBay last year. I told Johnnyshaft about it. The seller wanted $2500 for it though if I'm remembering right. Awesome prerub Starscream. I would love to own an AFA set of the prerubs. I can't afford it though. :-(

    My mistake Maz!
Back when I found it, there was some "doubt" about its legitimacy and it was discussed widely. I wish I would have known about the one you had, as it would have lessened the doubters points that "there was no way I found a prerub variation previously undiscovered". It was frustrating to me because I had the Skids in my hands.

BTW Maz, thanks for all the informative and interesting articles!!!

UKG 60 Darkwing - I found this figure hard to let go of, I dunno why, probably because it used to be one of my best toys when I was a kid.

Very kind of you KBK, thank you! Eric no way, LOST!?

I don;t think I've ever seen an AFA Grapple before, that's wonderful. Are 1985 Autobot cars harder to finder in high grade condition than 84?

    All the best

Tell me the story about the Post Office losing this stuff. I'm curious.

Some pretty remarkable stuff in this thread, very nice.

Does anyone get their Masterpiece toys graded? Only curious as to whether there's no point to grading with more modern toys, or if there's an issue grading toys not actually visible in their boxes..

Don't have any MP's to grade. I believe they would present nicely, but keep in mind that they would only be assigned a box grade and that would be the overall rating.
    Hope that helps!!!

Personally, I'm not terribly interested in graded toys where you cannot see the actual toy. Also, while I have a couple MPs (Grimlock & Soundwave), I'm not too interested in graded MPs. Grading, to me, is partly about preserving the history of vintage toys, so grading modern toys doesn't hold much appeal.

Loving this thread, great stuff guys! Here is my small contribution, an AFA 80 Ultra Magnus.

Here is another, not graded, but a favorite piece of mine, a MIB G1 Devastator, stickers unapplied, weapons still on the trees. Probably wouldn't grade that well, but I love this box design and the artwork. Total genius. I had to order a custom acryllic box for this one, as I got it a few years ago before AFA started making standard Devastator-sized cases.

Ok, I"ll try to make this quick. Back in December of 2011 I sold three AFA figures (Kup, Inferno & Grapple) to another prominent AFA collector here on TFW. He paid me right before xmas and I sent the figures probably on the 27th or somewhere around there. I am in NC, he was in AL so it wasn't very far to go. After a week he said they hadn't arrived and I checked the tracking info which told me they had been scanned as delivered in a city over 100 miles away from my recipient. So I spent a lot of time back and forth with the PO about where the package could be, why it was marked delivered in another city, etc. In the end I had to refund my recipient's money and it took over 6 MONTHS for me to finally get a refund out of the Post Office. My guess is some PO worker saw the insurance value on the box and decided to keep it as a xmas present or try and sell it themselves. But I never saw the figures go up for sale on eBay. The lesson here? Never, ever mail anything worth over $200 via the PO as it just isn't worth it; they really, really, really do not want to pay an insurance claim. In fact my claim was denied three times before I finally appealed and harassed them enough for them to pay it (and they told me they were making an exception for me). I had a similar situation with UPS and I had my money back within the week.

    Love these.

And Killa just killed the thread.

I really like seeing the Japanese stuff graded, don't see it too often.

AFA 80 Inferno (the last item lost by the PO)
