i was looking up dazed and confused links and found this: http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,1532588,00.html
I was thinking "Dazed and Confused" before I even opened the thread. "I keep getting older...and they stay the same age." Oh, yeah.
Apparently, this was made before 'Juno,' which oughta be in the top 5. Oh, and where's 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure?' It's at least as much of a high school movie as 'Back to the Future.'
omegatron, i hear ya there, but id prolly call bill and ted a rock n roll movie rather than a teen one (but theres a lot of sub genre crossing so the lines kinda blurry).
Wow, about half of those movies on their list don't even seem like "High School Movies" (but that's probably just me and my perception on them), and I was so caught up in getting to the last page, I failed to catch on that The Breakfast Club was named the Best High School Movie of ALL TIME. I mean, really? I watched that movie, it was very enjoyable, but hardly... oh hell, High-School movies are overrated... props to the movie for maintaining #NO.1 for all this time, I guess. I couldn't pick a number one, because they're all kinda on the same level of entertainment and merit. And was 10 Things I hate about you on this list, 'cause I didn't catch it. By the way, has anybody seen their "Greatest Action Movies Ever" or "Greatest Sci-Fi Movies/TV Ever" Lists? I thought the first could've used some improving, but they hit the nail on the head when it counted.
By that logic then Scream shouldn't be on that list. I'd call it more a slasher movie than a teen movie.
What a horrible list. "Brick" and "Stand and Deliver" should be higher. And how is Rebel Without a Cause NOT number 1? Considering most of the other movies on the list ape it's formula in one way or another. Also, "... if" should be on the list.
Harry Potter is on there? What the fuck? Terrible acting and annoying child actors, yeah, that's awesome. And rock on Breakfast Club.
The only good Harry Potter movie to me was the ORder of hte Phoenix because holy shit. That fight between Voldemort and Dumbledor is what Yoda vs. Palpatine SHOULD have been.
I was going to post something well thought out and constructive but then I remembered I only paid attention to the bits where Tonks turned up on screen and was hot. So you win.
you just like her because she'd be easy in regards to my agree...ance to the exclusion of bill n ted (which i do love), the thing is, the high school aspect was third, behind rock n roll and time travel hijinks. while movie like scream/harry potter explored the dynamics of high school anthropology(?), purportedly.
What was that movie with the two dudes going to see a Blue Oyster Cult show called? It reminded me of high school alot. There was much smoking in the movie. They drove around in some kinda midget car. Anybody? I really liked the Virgin Suicides.
When I think of teen movie I do not think of many on this list. To include some of these would be like including any movie because there was a teenager in it (like Attack of the Clones)
