My Thread's been updated to support the 42 Robots (Minus The Kitchen Crew)

 

So, we have our 42 bots. I'm so looking forward to this.

 

except of course the combo female bike robot, which has been announced as not being in the movie.

Because of the use of repaints for backgrounds, it seems that there are more than 42.

 

why not? The combined robots form an entirely new / different robot

Correct. It seems most likely that every individual CG model they're working on counts as one.

That seems like a number Bay WOULD know offhand (i.e., each robot model = a certain number of $ in the budget), rather than "yes, there are 42 characters in the film"

 

Um when you get rid of all that don't count (kitchen crew, combiners, repaints, and Insecticon) you have 31 I believe (almost Devy doesn't count as one either).

The rest could be cameos/vehicle only. We may possibly be able to assume that the C-17 or whatever that drops OP out of the sky is Stratosphere and he just never appears in robot form (why else would he come with a mini Optimus Prime toy?) Also maybe the military talking about wanting Hound in the movie could be that the Jeep will ride in in vehicle mode and get crushed/blown up   style. Plus there are tons of unnamed robots like the red one that is fighing BB and maybe more Insecticons (idk). So yeah.....

Man, that was so disappointing. I keep hoping that it was misdirection but I know deep down it isn't. Oh well, at least they kept it in the toys. I suppose that means they CAN combine, they just don't on screen.

The repaint of Jazz is probably somewhere in the background of TF2 and TF3 as an extra. They are probably paying Jazz minimum wage to be an extra.

 

from a person who does cgi, especially since it was quoted from bay when he was talking about the japanese cgi studio, i would say 42 robots means 42 individually different cgi models and their configurations of the robots used.
so devi would be an individual model, and the other 7 constructicons would count as 7 robots.
also from wat i gather jazz will be in the movie, probably as a corpse in the deep ocean along with brawl.
anyway thats my take on it.
