    Oddly enough, this is a project that I've had swimming around in my head for years, but it just never fit my own collection . . . which is why it's not in my collection :lol

    This custom actually happened because of my own forgetfulness. Fellow Radicons and longtime friend, shinobi77 and I agreed on a trade, as I had a junker Alt Impreza for parts that he immediately thought would make a cool Autobot X for his collection. We made our agreement, and all was good . . . except I'd already stripped the junker for parts! There was no turning back, so to fulfill my obligation, I decided to embark on this project.

    To date, this is the quickest I've made a fully modified custom (this one took me around 15-18 hours to complete total). Obviously, Alternators Impreza parts were used. The head is from Alt Prowl, and the right side antennae is made from styrene. The left forearm is from a junker Alt Prime that was actually painted red, but had white painted over it. The white used is flat white from Kustom Kolors (a bottle I bought on clearance :D ). I did channel some TheTransTorture, as well as the tutorial he shared in Radicons :)  The Trailbreaker laser arm is from *gasp* the G1 mold (it's actually from Hoist, as the plastic is orange and not red).

    I used several other modified parts. An ink jet cartridge cap was used and modified for the left arm shoulder. A circuit board and a Zoid part was used on the left leg. The "Hound" rocket launcher was made from a Power Ranger figure's arm, a G.I. Joe [type] missile, and the top of a Tic Tac box for the fender. There is a peg I made so it attaches like the BT arming kits, and the launcher itself (since it is an arm) is hinged, but the screw also allows for swivel joint. The right leg actually has a running board from an Alt Prime cut in half. I also allowed for an Alt Prime gun to mount on the right arm, using the same pegs that the Impreza engine would mount on in alt mode (I mainly thought it funny to have a Viper V-10 engine for this "car" :lol ). The rims are each from a different Alt as well (guess which ones!).

    The reasons for doing the above modifications come from the character design that have the cartoon Autobot X with very specific parts for the Frankenstein's monster bot :)

    "* Prowl's forehead crest and right chest/front bumper
    * Bluestreak's left door
    * Sunstreaker's shoulder
    * Hound's shoulder-mounted missile launcher and right fender/shoulder
    * Trailbreaker's arm cannon, left chest, and left thigh
    * Optimus Prime's left wrist and parts of the right leg
    * Jazz's photon rifle, mounted on his right arm
    * the back of Jazz's left leg
    * Jazz's crotch"

    (source: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Autobot_X)

    As far as the photos go, I bought my wife a new camera for her b-day, and this gallery allowed for me to try it out with this custom (I feel that the photos got a little better towards the end of the shoot). I was already late getting this piece to my friend, so I do admit to rushing the photo gallery itself as well.

    The custom does still transform, but the head would have to be removed to do so. The Prowl head is just a tiny bit large for the Impreza alt mode with no modifications (and as I said, I was a bit under the gun I felt to get this to 'nobi). I think with just a tiny bit of modification, the inside of the hood area could be worked out to accommodate the different head.

    At any rate, this isn't really a "commission", but it kinda is. Mainly, I wanted to take an opportunity to do something that I'd wanted to do for a while, and do something special for a friend in the process (and, this is a one off, and a one of a kind piece, as I'm not taking commissions at this time. Sorry :( ). I hope you enjoy it :)

    Wow, nice work Sq7! The paint job really makes him look like mixed mash of different car and robot parts! The added parts complete the look. This is a really creative custom. :thumb

    Sweet! I love how in car mode the messed up windows "complete the look" of an old junker with panels from multiple vehicles. I'm not sure the vehicle mode would work as well without that little touch. Well done, sir! I applaud!

    I wondered what he would have looked like transformed. Very cool. I think if he did that in the cartoon, if would have hurt him.

    This is very interesting. I remember Autobot X very well. Wheeljack's Robot Frankenstein's Monster. I think the custom looks cool. Now, if he were really made of mismatched parts, and could transform., then I'd REALLY be impressed. Nice job.

    Wow, I never thought I'd see a transformable Autobot X (due to all of the mis-mashed parts). Nice job!

    Oh wow, this is a great Alternators custom!! It has the illusion of mashed up parts and the colours but beneath all that chaos is a really smooth custom.
    That bot mode really really shines!! It's so on point to the reference pic too! Sweet work sq7!

    I was wondering when you were going to get around to putting this up.

    So yeah, I saw this junker of SQ7 while we were chatting one night, the mismatched colors made him look like spare parts. Well, spare parts made me think of AX, and the idea was born. I told him I wanted it just as is and I'd do a couple mods and be fine.....

    so, a couple nights go by, and he tells me he has a little problem, I was expecting maybe a broken door, or, one of the rims wasn't fitting, or something like that.

    Now, I've known SQ for a number of years now, so, when he tells me something like that, I have a tendency not to believe him you see, we have this thing going on where we like to get each others goats. He particularly is good at it with me.....:duel

    He tells me that he stripped down the bot in question......I was sorely disappointed.
    Then he tells me its not a big deal, that he can assemble an impreza almost with his eyes closed, so I told him, okay, that's fine. He asks how much I want him to get into it, I told him, just make him look a bit mismatched, thinking I could take care of the rest.

    See, SQ7 and I are truly good friends, and he's helped me out quite a bit with some creative flowings I have here and there, and he's been bugging me about getting some of my bashes finished and painted, and, I wanted to accomplish something of a collaboration with him, to maybe help get things into motion for me. I've been having tons of ideas, tons of starts, but very few things actually finished.

    Anyways, I was maybe expecting some different rims, a different head, you know, something 'minor' so to speak.....

    well, a week goes by, and I start pestering him, wondering where my bot was. I'm not a patient fellow sometimes, especially when he tells me that he can get this impreza done pretty quick..........

    so, now he refuses to show me any pics,

    at all, says I like to change things up in mid stride, (I have no idea what he's talking about :rolleyes:  )

    so finally, this box comes......and instead of a custom that I figure I'm going to need to finish off and such, here arrives this Masterpiece of art from my good old pain in the butt friend, SQ7.......

    I still am going to kick him in the butt for this when I do finally get to meet him.....

    anyways, this is the second custom of his I have been able to get ahold of, the first being an Impreza repainted and modded as Prowl to go along with the other two Brothers.

    Its amazing to see the differences between the two, and growth of the artist in SQ7 and am truly glad to call him friend.

    Now, here are a couple more pics of AX guarding the "junk pile" infront of my keyboard when I start fiddling....

    the single only thing I changed from how SQ7 sent him to me, was I took off one of the spoilers to give him that still mismatched look.

    So *this* was what you were making when you showed me that *tiny* little teaser pic of his foot? I have to say I'm glad I was wrong with my guess... This guy is pretty cool!

    I always wondered why Wheeljack (it was Wheeljack, no?) had incorporated all that weaponry into the temporary body for Spike... On here though? It kicks ass!

    Great job SQ7, and enjoy him mightily Shin! :D
