Back in the spring of last year, we posted our 30th anniversary celebration countdown - a little thing I called the "30 in 30". You guys were keen on seeing the series continue, and I enjoyed writing it, so here is the son of the 30 in 30 - our "year in review" for 2014! Check it out here: TFW's Year in Review - 2014 - Transformers News - TFW2005 And if you missed the 30 in 30, it's right here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...s-30th-anniversary-countdown-celebration.html
Cool review, but of course as a Movie fan I expected more neutral altitude to Movies. It's still 1000 times better than articles of "critics", but I heard in it familiar - and painful for me - traditional here on TFW opposition to the Films *sigh
If their's one aspect about 2014 I liked it was definite that it was a mostly solid 30th anniversary for the whole franchise. I liked that we had something for just about everyone for the movie fans they got a new movie and the IDW fans.....man IDW continued to get better and better.... But I'm really looking forward to what 2015 has to offer Transformers.
Glad to see the Generations stuff so I didn't have to take a break in collecting because of a movie year. As to the movie this might be controversial but Age of Extinction felt like a non-event. Lots of attention around the release date thanks to the marketing team making it seem like a massive movie event. But after the attention of release weekend it's like Age of Extinction dropped off the radar. Age of Extinction doesn't get mentioned when people go over the worst of the year and it doesn't get mentioned when people cover the best of the year. Once we reached the fall of the year it was hard to find a mention of the movie outside of the Transformers fan sites. With so many movie toys still on the shelves after the holidays you kind of have to wonder how strong the movie brand is when trailers and ads aren't running. But with 2015 looking good so far it's safe to say the brand will continue to transform and roll out.
Yeah, 2014 was a great year for both toys and fiction. A fitting 30th Anniversary in my opinion. A great read overall as always, but I have to agree with some of the movie fans. There should have been something about the live action debuts of Galvatron, Hound, Drift, and Crosshairs and their respective voice actors and a simple mention that reactions to the movie and its characters varied greatly as opposed to the last paragraph about Optimus. Not every fan, myself as a G1 and movie fan included, views things the same. Anyways, I look forward to what 2015 brings, and while I wasn't excited at first, now that I have seen more footage and more of the characters I really look forward to RID. This decade is a great time to be a Transformers fan with the IDW comics, multiple cartoons, live action films, and Masterpiece and Generations lines. There's something for everyone, and for that we should all be thankful for being part of such a fun, entertaining, and dynamic brand.
That's Spike in the Exo-Suit that comes with MP Bumblebee, not Daniel. I also gotta agree with movie fans here, the bias against AOE shines through a bit too much, and I'm sorry if this sounds cruel but no one cares what Aaron Archer thinks anymore.
No bias towards the movies in this review. No bias at all. None. Just forgot to mention the characters the film introduced, more screentime and characterization for the bots, the voice actors, and the film's worldwide gross.
Definitely a great year. But, I'm perfectly fine with how Optimus Prime was portrayed in AOE. It's always good to mix it up. Especially with how repetitive his character can get.
