It's time again to share with you another new Transformers toy gallery! This time we have a look at a diminutive little Autobot who has shot to stardom during his tour of the galaxy on board the Lost Light - it's Tailgate, with Groundbuster.

Tailgate is, quite simply, a lovely little toy. Originally a Minibot in Generation 1, he has been updated as a new Generations Legend class toy, which puts him at around the size of a Scout, which is a perfect size for the little guy among the Classics toys. He's also spot on for how he looks in the More than Meets the Eye comic, really evoking the look of the character, especially in his face. Poseability is decent, though he's a bit constrained by his vehicle mode parts around the elbows and shoulders which do limit movement a little. Vehicle mode is a sharp looking sports car, with blue flames like the Transformers Prime Cyberverse toy.

Tailgate is partnered with Groundbuster, who is loosely based on one of the Generation 1 Construction Patrol Micromasters, Neutro. He evokes a nice Micromaster feel especially with his robot mode design, and would look right at home with the old Construction Patrol or the Sixbuilder Micromasters. His transformation is typically simple for the sidekicks to the Legends toys - he flops forward. The weapon mode transformation and design - a claw - evokes a feel of the Power Core Combiner limbs. The claw mode is an unconventional accessory for a Transformer, but it fits with Tailgate's bomb disposal role in the comic. Groundbuster is an inoffensive figure and a great complement to Tailgate.

Tailgate and Groundbuster were recently released in the same assortment as Skrapnel, and are making their way to stores now. He's a must-buy for those wanting to fill-out their Lost Light crew, and I'd warmly recommend everyone check out the little guy. You can start by taking a look at our gallery, linked below:

Ah, I see Tailgate's little friend, GroundBuster, turns into convenient "Bomb Disposal Fork".  

And as always, most excellent gallery, Sol Fury! You really know how to pose this little guy just right to really capture is personality. Most digging your work!  

 

If you do this it frees up his arms a lot or if you pull the car top back some after you pose the arms.

 

This spread just makes me wish for a Tailgate from the Windcharger mold. I'll still get him though, and simply repurpose him if that dream ever happens.

 

Or a pooper scooper. He is a WASTE disposal bot.

 

The first thing I did when I opened my tailgate was take a picture next to my windcharger it amazing that these legend class figures are almost scout class size.

 

Used to really want a Tailgate redeco of Windcharger...now I'm hoping for a Windcharger redeco of Tailgate...the times have changed... 

 

Is that Animated Jetfire filling in for Rung? For that image at least, it isn't a bad choice. : D

I'll definitely purchase this little guy, and put him on one of my book/manga/Comic shelves, near my TF books and such.  

 

Would love to have a TF movie/series based on the Lost Light adventures. Could be like Star Trek and have TFs explore the unknown or just hanging around the ship creating mischief.

 

Completely agree about tailgate, least favorite of the entire line. Heck, I enjoy Bee a lot more.

Yup, that's Animated Jetfire. I picked him out since he's got the right silhouette from the back - originally, I was messing around with keeping him in the shadows but the picture came out a bit too grainy for my liking. Glad you like it  

 

Tailgate's adorkable.

 

I love Tailgate. He has soul. He's adorable. He's interesting. His arc has been one of the best parts of MTMTE.

I hate this figure. There's more kibble than robot. The white hides what details there are. There's kibble. The poseability is hindered by the kibble. And I paid way too much at BBTS.

Dreaming of a 3rd party Tailgate...

 

Wow, didn't realize how many Lost Light guys already had new toys. Chromedome is definitely overdue.

At first I was kinda meh, on this guy, but you know for the right price, he is kinda adorable.

 

I'll pass on Tailgate. Not good at all. Easy pass. Swerve is much better figure.

And it doesn't help that the comparison pictures have two of the best scout/legend figures available--Windcharger and Swerve! lol

 

I got mine yesterday, really like it. Very cute, very Tailgate even with the kibble.
