Great looking toy. Love the photos. As someone who absolutely loved the character but was pretty underwhelmed with his original, fiddly toy, I'm definitely interested. Has anyone done a review of him yet?

Upon closer inspection, he's DEFINITELY crying out for a custom paintjob. Compared to the original he's definitely light on paint apps.

I am ok with what's there. Could use a little more, but overall good. The original Sky-Byte had one of the most complicated, detailed paint jobs for a mass release ever done IMO. Lots of colors, lots of little dots.

One thing I was disappointed with is the shark eyes. They molded the googly eye that the original had into it, but then didn't paint it. Original was white, red googly eye, this is just a red blob.

Minor nitpick, I'm sure Takara will address these things and charge double. :)

I know there's little chance that it'll happen but I hope there's a Transmetal 2 Cybershark redeco. I always thought he looked better with some green on him. :)

I've never been big on shark toys that are supposed to be articulated, namely because without some kind of stand they don't display well. But with Skybyte, while overall I think his alt. mode is cool, I wish they'd tried to do some blending so the front end colors of teal and yellow/silver aren't clashing hard with the dark blue of the body, since the original does a slightly better job of color coordination.

However, I also don't think the alt. mode was the focus, since that robot mode is excellent. My one major gripe is that those are some hideously hollow looking limbs, especially the right forearm leaving the hand compartment exposed and the lower calves leaving the knee joints exposed that ruins the illusion of those parts being as thick as they look. But the good vastly outweighs the bad, as the significant reduction in back kibble is commendable and the colors are geared to reproducing the robot mode as close as possible (hence why the shark eyes aren't "googly" as they're only red blobs on the robot mode chest). Given that robot mode is the form he'll be in 99% of the time, that was the right move on Hasbro's part, as he'll look great on my shelf once I get him.

I'm sorry, but this doesn't look nearly as good as the original figure. Every advantage this new figure has over the old is offset by a disadvantage over the original. They didn't even improve the wrist, so it has the same-old frustrating weight-lifter arm.

I might end up passing on this. I feel like I'd be wasting my money.

I loved the RID toys, hated the show. Never liked SB that much although I did pick him up back then. Ill pass on this one and wait for a repaint. A Sharkticon scheme would look sweet!

Gorilla arms...really wish this would stop : /

Considering picking him up, but I have the original, so will wait for some in-hand reviews, I think.

Who's the baddest shark around? Who's the smartest shark in town? Sky-Byte, that's me!

I really like this. It's different enough to make it worth owning, it keeps his weird poopy shark face, and maybe if it sells well we'll get a new Fire Convoy or maybe the Autobot Brothers!

Oh yes, I think Skybyte will be a must have for me. I passed on the original, not being a fan of Cybershark.
