Any differences from the original release?

 

I have the original with crappy paint. Did they fix all the paint issues on this version?

 

I'm debating myself . I have a second run ( not a reissue ).

 

I guess it's time for me to retire my KO of MP Sideswipe.

 

This is third release (2nd reissue) of MP-12. I'm assuming they've fixed the QC issues related to the bad paint application but wasn't that supposed to have been done on the 2nd production run that came out several months ago? Online retailers advertised this version as
"featuring a surprise accessory." So I'm thinking ok, finally, they will include his long overdue jetpack....nope! Just a new type of collectors coin.  
I'm fine with the MP-12 I already have. If I wanted the new version of the coin, I would pick the coin itself up from ebay. It doesn't justify me spending the money to have two MP-12s sitting on my shelf. But this figure is a great option for those who don't have MP-12 and want it. Plus it is slightly cheaper than the 2nd production run.

It would make far more sense for Takara do an Asia Reissue for MP-14 Red Alert and FINALLY fix it so that his gun will fit securely in BOTH HANDS with the fist closed. This is something that the MP-14 2nd production run failed to do.

 

I was never keen on pictures of the Lambor mold. Finally picked this up and I'm highly impressed with it. Especially his red and black stripey socks  

Only problem I've noticed really is that his missile launcher doesn't fit properly in the top of the vehicle mode. I have to angle it a little because the launcher peg is bigger than the hole. No one ever poses MPs like that, so not a big issue.

 

The REAL question is does he have the 1st release face or the 2nd release face????????

Well, my family never knows what to get me for Christmas, and my KO Sideswipe needs to be retired (only KO I've bought but, ironically, the single toy that made me decide to go full S1 cast in MP form), so this'll be perfect. Paint looks really great here- did they fix the issue with the paint on the roof being too thin and looking too dark as a result?

 

What is this about first vs second release face? This is the first I've heard of it. I don't recognize differences between my first run and the photos added here. What's the difference?

 

They put red alerts face inside the helmet of sideswipe. It kinda pisses me off.

 

The first run had the weird pointy squinty eyes as if he was stoned. They fixed it with Red Alert having more 'square-ish' eyes, and have used that face since with 2nd runs and reissues. The face is the same just a change in the eyes

 

Oh ok. I really had no idea. The pointy eyes is one of the things that annoyed me about Sideswipe's face. I never understood why they gave him such pointy eyes. I might like the new run then. I'll have to dig up comparison pics. Thanks for the info!

 

That looks almost the same to me. So maybe they aren't using Red Alert's face on this run? The mouth looks a bit rough though.
