No, only by 'unwatch' the specific thread... But if watching is set to auto (the default) you probably will be subscribed again after your next post.

Depending on your makeup of interests... You may consider disabling the auto watch setting and manually watching threads.

Adding watch is very easy as its a single click at the top of a thread.

My personal preference is leave watch auto, no alerts on new posts, and using the watched thread page to see activity instead of alerts.

In fact, I almost never use the forum views... Only the new posts and watched thread views

It's been mentioned numerous times that this is no longer an option. It's hard coded into the software.

Having trouble with editing posts on iPad. It pops up in a little window and if you quoted someone and want to scroll down to edit your portion of the post the whole window reacts like you're moving it instead of navigating the post.

    Hey everyone -

Added in some alternate style choices for those who have issues with the brightness or the width being wide. You can see examples of each available, and instructions, here:

    Alternate Looks Available Now (9/2016)

    Basic options:

    Default
Default - contained to 1280 wide
Bit Darker - gray tones muted
Bit Darker - contained to 1280 wide

You can choose / update these at the bottom of the screen, left side, or, in your Preference Settings: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/account/preferences

LMK thoughts and issues with them if you find any.

Safari, I just tried the more options option but it reacts the same way. It's still a similar overlay, it's just bigger with options to manage files.

Is there a way to reduce the vertical space a post inherently takes up? Like for example-- a one or two sentence reply, the reply itself only takes up a row or two. But the profile/icon info on the left, takes up many more lines, vertically. (icon, then name, quite, joined, posts, trophy, ratings, etc). So a one-line reply takes up like 15 actual lines of space and fills half the screen.

2 one-line replies, takes up an entire screen, vertically. Could just be my settings, but that makes for a LOT of scrolling. The forum should be able to display more than 2 posts per screen, when they're 1-sentence posts.

I assume "turning all the extra info off" would help, but on the old forum, I left it displayed, and got many more "posts per screen". I'd like to keep people's icons/stats if possible, without it taking up half of each screen.

What you are explaining was the same on the old forums. The user info, avatars and signature add space to short replies. There is no current option to dynamically turn that stuff off if it's a short post. You could disable signatures for a bit more room, but that's global, all the time.

Nice. "A bit darker" is way, way, way easier on my eyes. This is very good.

Now if only I could turn off avatars I'd be back to 100% happy. :D

    Get a bigger screen ;)

It was worse on the old forum because of the the ebay and supporter boxes under avatars, etc.

Basically the box on the left hand side dictates what the minimum space a post will take. If someone only writes a line or two, and doesn't have a signature... there is lots of dead space under the post as the box size is dictated by the left panel, not the body of the post.

Maybe you were one of the users who hid all the stuff in the left panel before?

@Tony_Bacala - maybe consider making a template that strips down the left hand side of the post box for those users who wanted to hide avatars, and are bothered by how much space each post takes. Given them a TTY version of the site with a very minimum left panel and no signatures in a template.

I do have sigs off, as I usually did on the old forum. I think "new forum with sigs off" still takes up more room than "old forum with sigs on". There's THAT much more extra space tacked on.

I didn't hide that stuff on the old forum---saw avatars, ebay icons, etc. And they took up a LOT less space. Both my PC and my phone looked great. Now---even my 24in monitor at home only shows 2 posts per screen, if that.

If there is to be a "stripped" option---at least leave in the avatars. Those are critical for "identifying posters". But certainly--reduce them in size. They are FAR larger than they used to be.

For an "easy to fix" (I believe) issue---as mentioned many times, the "currently selected page" box, is white, surrounded by "other pages" boxes, in very light grey. It is almost impossible to tell what the current/selected page/box is. The highlighted box needs to be very different from the non-highlighted box.

Avatars are a bit larger for some people, but smaller for others. Overall, space per post is tighter and takes up less
That is intentional at the moment, but we are looking into altering it based on feedback.

I like the option of the 1280 size, even on a 1080p resolution I don't know why but I do like a bit of whitespace and background to it. Also the page numbers on forums look easier to see on a bit darker but they still are strain to see read the page numbers for a topic when on the sub forum's thread list.

Regarding spacing of posts - it will differ person to person, screen to screen, etc - however, generally, spacing here for posts is tighter and takes up less. I am not quite sure what scenario you are speaking on, forgive me if I'm being dense.

Here are some examples. For folks with sidebar info like yours, about the same.

For folks with lots of stuff like flux convoy had, it takes up significantly less space. Won't always be stripped and 100% tight, but it's tighter than before in most cases.
