Yeah, people definitely need to sit tight. Technically this is the first the general public have heard of Generations. Toy Fair was just the tip of the iceberg.

I think people are just disappointed that we didn't get a definite "yes" on Jazz and Wheeljack being in Generations. To be fair to Hasbro though, the volume of information released isn't that different from previous Toyfairs. It's just that we've known for about 2 years (well, off and on I suppose) that Drift was coming and the WfC figures were revealed to the fan community several weeks in advance. If the WfC toys had been kept under wraps until TF, the reaction might have been more ecstatic. It's easy to forget how wired in we are.

True. But just because something seems an obvious and popular choice is never any guarantee that Hasbro will do anything about it. So long as they get it right eventually, I can wait.

There's been rumours/talk from hasbro reps of them wanting to do these two for a while now, they've just been waiting for the right time.

Most recently one of their q&a's mentioned that they were working on a new wheeljack and at the time most folks asusmed it would be the animated version, well that's a slim to none chance now...

Has anyone seen or seen a picture of how the mini-cons interact with the 5-pack in full combiner mode.

Do they hold in the hands of the limbs, peg on to the posts - or can they fit on the chest area ?

Don't think the drone limbs can hold hand weapons but the other two are certainly intended. Each commander figure has a flip out plug on the chest for attaching mincon armour.

Limbs don't turn into robots. They autotransform into a limb when attached to the PCC pegs.

One standard head for when the Commander is in normal robot mode. One when its powered up.

Think Super Sayajin or Powermaster Primes head. It's a super mode.

If there whas fiction for this Icepick would totally receive ice powers since his Powercore head have trans-blue iceicles.

He could have crystaline electrical powers or powers like Beast Wars Energon Crystals too I suppose rather than icyness - but Icyness is possible with the alt mode being a snow vehicle.

I wonder if any of them will display 'backwards' well - like you can do with Universe Bruticus so well.

Use the back as the front and turn the supermode hear around to give a different look - might be ideal if they repaint any of them and you want to give a different look with a different limb set.

    -----------------

As I said before I hope someone is able to get some samples of these before to long and see how the minicons look as armor - as i'm disapointed this was neglected at toyfare.

Perhaps if no samples show up someone can think to ask at the next event Hasbro's showing at.

Also the packs specifically mention that the Minicons can be used as weapons for the vehicle mode but also armor for the vehicles - I'd like to see that idea expanded upon with example photographs too.

I think you can probably fit a Minicon on the posts the limbs often have and another on the chest so I'd guess it's possible to latch at least 3 possibly 5 Minicons on a single 5 part combination - as well as transform others into hand held weapons (like Chopster).

Think about it this way though. When people heard there was going to be the Generations line people got their hopes up that the highly demanded figures would get made at last. While Hasbro showed a few nice Generations toys if you were looking for one of the missing big names you might feel a bit let down.

I'm sure that perhaps Bot Con or Comic Con will be Generations time to shine, but after waiting for something like a Classics line to come back for so long I'm sure some of us would really like to see some of the stuff we had been crossing our fingers for.

Then there is the fear factor. We had the Classics line get axed without a deluxe Jazz or Wheeljack. We had the Universe line get axed without a deluxe Jazz or Wheeljack. With a third film that could cause Generations to get axed it's not unreasonable for people to fear that Generations could be canceled before we get the characters we've been wanting for a long time. Not a big window for releases if Transformers 3 means another period of only movie toys.

It's one thing to say I'm sure Hasbro will not leave us wanting again it's a whole other thing to actually show a toy to prove that we will not get the short end again. Heck I'm worried that Human Alliance Jazz will mean no Generations Jazz.

They have different ways of getting to the super mode head. Only the yellow Decepticon digger have one head that can transform into two (via turning it around and opening the flaps). Icepick, Smolder, etc all seem to have a hatch that you can open to rotate between the two.

I don't really have an opinion of Drift as a character, but he has a very cool-looking toy.

I'd be ticked if I knew Classiverserations Jazz was dumped in favor of Drift, but so far we've only seen the first two toy waves at most, so I'm not too worried right now.

    Why?

Hasbro has stated that Generations was to cover all Generations of toys. Why couldn't an Animated figure or two make it into the line? Wheeljack and Perceptor would be great choices for this. A Cyberton mode of Bumblebee would be great as well as they could repaint the hell out of that mold with just a few minor head remolds. (Cliffjumper, Wasp, Hubcap, Glyph, Tapout, etc...)

Just to clarify -what I was talking about before, What I was suggesting is take Huffer for example if he was in Commander mode - you could display him with a minicon on the chest combined with the Aerialbots - or you could rotate his supermode head 180 degrees and use the roof of the vehicle mode (which is his back) as a chest and use a different limb set - say the ones that come with Mudslinger 'The Destructicons' instead.

[I can tell from the pictures that Searchlight and icepick both have their waspinator style head mechanisms on ball joints so theres no reason those two couldn't be rotated to make them back to front for combination/display variety]

The reason I mention this is if they decide to repaint these toys and they make an Autobot character into a decepticon one - you have the option of displaying them backwards (not unlike Universe Sunstreaker/Sideswipe) to achieve a different look.

Using another example the team leader of the Aerialbots has a minicon post on his back in supermode so rotating his head 180 degrees and putting a minicon on that post as a faux chest piece should make a different look when displaying the limbs backwards.

In some cases (like the combaticon leader) it might not be possible to rotate the whole torso - due to his back cannons - but it might be possible to rotate the hips backwards and slightly change the look.

    ------

One last crazy thought - why not base one of the PCC on Energon Optimus Prime ?
They don't have to call it Optimus they could call it Thunderclash ?

Or perhaps an idea is Thunderclash with the Turbomasters as a team idea ?

Or a Micromaster base leader character and a set of limbs based on a micromaster patrol.

Example Roughstuff and the Decepticon Military Patrol.
    Roughstuff (1989) - Decepticon Aerial Defense - www.tfu.info
    &
    Tracer (1990) - Decepticon Front Line Assault - www.tfu.info
    Dropshot (1990) - Decepticon Front Line Assault - www.tfu.info
    Bombshock (1990) - Decepticon Front Line Assault - www.tfu.info
    Growl (1990) - Decepticon Front Line Assault - www.tfu.info

    But some might argue that is what the powercore Combiner combaticons are quite like already but I think past teams of 4 or 5 in general might work as inspirations for drone limbs;

    Power masters (Pullback cars):
    Staxx (1995) - Decepticon Highway Destruction - www.tfu.info
    Meanstreak (1995) - Autobot Street Fighter - www.tfu.info
    Ironhide (1995) - Autobot Military Strategist - www.tfu.info
    Bulletbike (1995) - Decepticon Combat Destruction - www.tfu.info

    Or the Airstrike Patrol :
    Whisper (1989) - Decepticon Espionage - www.tfu.info
    Nightflight (1989) - Decepticon Espionage - www.tfu.info
    Storm Cloud (1989) - Decepticon Espionage - www.tfu.info
    Tailwind (1989) - Decepticon Espionage - www.tfu.info

    & Axcelerators :
    Rapido (1993) - Autobot Platoon Commander - www.tfu.info
    Skram (1993) - Autobot Crack Patrol - www.tfu.info
    Turbofire (1993) - Autobot Supplies & Transport - www.tfu.info
    Windbreaker (1993) - Autobot Advance Scout - www.tfu.info

    & Stormtroopers (I.e. Concept cars)
    Aquablast (1993) - Decepticon Engineer - www.tfu.info
    Drench (1993) - Decepticon Coordinator - www.tfu.info
    Hydradread (1993) - Decepticon Scientific Advisor - www.tfu.info
    Rage (1993) - Decepticon Leader - www.tfu.info

Ideas for leaders might be :
    Fearswoop (1993) - Decepticon Attack Specialist - www.tfu.info
    Calcar (1993) - Decepticon Battle Analyst - www.tfu.info

    Obliterators :
    Clench (1993) - Decepticon Leader - www.tfu.info
    Pyro (1993) - Autobot Leader - www.tfu.info

    Lightformers :
    Deftwing (1992) - Autobot Tactician - www.tfu.info
    Ironfist (1992) - Autobot Weaponry Expert - www.tfu.info

A last idea for a 5 part team might be the fembots from the 80's cartoon ; Firestar, Moonracer etc... (basically Cybertronian modes based on said mech-girls).

Yes they could and should but I don't expect to see animated in generations right away, they're still trying to get the last actual animated line figures out so they'll be animated on the shelves already.

As someone else suggested, when WfC is done animated could take it's place, I hope for more comic designs though, no need to keep letting 3rd party's have all the fun.

Hmph, if you're going to blame anything for the lack of Jazz/Wheeljack, blame Dorifuto-sama for taking valuable plastic instead of focusing all your hate-on for the movies:rolleyes2

I wouldn't expect to see much outside of G1 and WFC chraracters in Generations anyway, regardless of how they talk about it or what their intentions are for the line.

Consider this; the two previous lines like this (Classics and Universe) were both filler lines. At this point there's no reason to believe that Generation will be any different, especially since I can't see Movie 3's line, Generations, and the next cartoon's lines all being on the shelves together in 2011. You might get away with the movie line and a small sub line, but no more. Which means that either Generations with be ending in May 2011, or if it does survive along side the movie, then it is because the next cartoon has such a small cast that it doesn't have an independent line of it's own and all it's toys are released under the Generations line. Which wouldn't leave any room for characters from other series anyway!

So if we have a start date of about September 2010, and an end date to Generations of May 2011, then that really only leaves 6, maybe 7 waves of figures at the most. That includes the characters that we've already seen, plus all the WFC characters that they want to do, plus comic only characters that they really want to do but weren't allowed to before, plus repaints of the new molds and Universe molds that haven't been repainted yet, and "more seekers". Not much room at all really.

They've already confirmed that despite the line being open to "all eras" that they have no plans to do any characters from Beast Wars and Beast Machines, so the "all eras" thing is already out the window. There's not much chance of new Animated molds being made for this line, unless it's releasing the ones that are already finished but currently in limbo.

Somehow I suspect that part of Hasbro's marketing strategy for Universe/Classics/Generations (whatever their "legacy" line is called in each subsequent incarnation) is to "hold back" certain key characters to keep interest up. At least Universe felt that way.... insert a few key characters like Prowl and Ironhide that every collector (even the casual ones) would want, but then pad it out with a few B-level characters like Octane and Powerglide. And then, in the next go-around, that still leaves them some highly-anticipated "tentpole" characters to carry the line and sustain excitement and interest.

The Transformers franchise has a wealth of beloved, sought-after characters... but if they dumped them all out at once a lot of collectors would just stop there and lose interest as the perceived second-stringer characters started to dominate later waves of the line.

Of course, this is all just guesswork on my part. We'll see when Botcon hits, and when the Generation lineup gets fleshed out a bit more, but I'd be surprised if there weren't a few fan-pleasing surprises in store.

That makes too much sense to not be part of the strategy. The 84 Autobots probably won't be completed until they're sure that this series of remake lines is ready to be finished once and for all, or atleast be rebooted and starting from the top with Op, Megs, BB, Screamer, and the rest all over again anyway. :sly: :ev:

I do like the powercore combiner limb attachment gimmick! Total automorph/activator tech. But does that mean the limbs get no indiv. robot modes??
