All of the 2-pack "Commander" figures have an alternate head. They can be used as alternate torso's for the 5-pack limb drones. Basically all the Commander/Scout figures in the PCC line can be combined with the drones from the 5-packs to make a power-up mode.

As Energon combiners were a Deluxe body with scout-class limbs, and PCCs are a Scout body with legends/minicon-size limbs and accessories, I'd say the size difference makes compatibility highly unlikely.

Smolder, and all the other PCC Commanders, have been described as Scout-class figures. They seem, to me at least, to be in between the normal Scout and a Deluxe. Which is nice, and makes sense, cause the 2-packs are supposed to cost $10 each.

That Drift toy is official? As in, actually made by Hasbro?

    Sweet! : D

I wasn't too keen on the PCC until I saw the videos. I'm foreseeing a ton of play-ability in this line now, which, IMO, more than makes up for the crappy looking limbs. Very interesting!

Nope. PCC have Cubes, while Energon has round Pegs. That, and the size difference.

As much as I stand by all the harsh stuff I already said about Powercore Combiners, I have to admit, that automorph gimmick is damn impressive.

In the video you can't really make out what's going on with all the moving parts, but just the sound alone is awesome.

I see an easy repaint scheme for the PCC sets, potentially.
    - If it's initially released as a two-pack, make it the core of a fiver, and vice versa.
    - Swap faction on repaint and shuffle/repaint drones as needed.

Re. the toys as shown off, I find I'm pleased by the fact the drone limbs automorph both ways - I genuinely wasn't expecting that.

Looks cool but are the arms and legs on the combiner turn into bots or no? What is the deal with the changing head thing??

Since we know Hasbro likes to re-use molds, maybe we can get a Universe Jazz, Wheeljack, Breakdown and Dead End out of the Drift mold.

that would be so wrong. I could never accept it. Besides, people hate Drift enough without having to think we got cheated out of a Jazz mold for him.

The gimmicks for PCC are pretty cool! I like how the two pack figs have different heads that flip out for when they combine, so they don't have a tiny head in combined mode. It's better than a "helmet" too. The drone limbs' automorph feature looks very cool! I can't wait to have these toys in person. They seem very playable.

Going by what we've seen so far, I'm disappointed by the execution of the PCC concept. This is mainly because the drones make for very abstract limbs and they seem pretty much identical. Aside from a limb having a different vehicle mode or color scheme, they all serve pretty much the same function as their counter part from another set, diminishing the impetus to buy more sets.

If, on the other hand, each set brought something new to the table I could get behind it. For example, if one drone became a GIANT FRICKIN' HAND that could hold a GIANT FRICKN' HAMMER, a la Goldymarg from GaoGaiGar, that set would have a unique selling point in comparison to the others. In other words, instead of each set simply representing a different vehicle mode theme, each set would have a unique play pattern and the creative aspect would be pimping the 2 pack commander of your choice with a giant hammer hand, or rocket booster legs, or somesuch.

No the arms and legs do not turn into bots. Each scout class figure including the ones sold in the five packs can be used as the torse for the arms and legs. Each scout class figure has two heads to make different combiners.

    I like Drift :(

I like the Drift mold and the Drift design, and actually from what I've seen, most people do.

But Jazz and Wheeljack deserve better. And if they're going to repaint Drift, it's better not to repaint it white.

We had a thread about this recently.

I am ambivalent about Drift, as I haven't read the comics which feature him. I understand he's a huge Mary Sue character, much like Sunstorm - but the toy is nice and I can always come up with my own background for the character.
