I don't think Lockdown ever intended to stay on Earth. He just wanted to collect his bounty and leave. To get that bounty, he had to do what Lockdown does best; hunt down and terminate other Transformers. Attinger didn't want the Cybertronians on our planet, and Optimus pretty much called it home at the end of the last movie.

I loved it! I thought I was going to hate it with all the flack the critics were saying about it. My favorite of the four films, slightly beating out the 1st.

    Likes:
    • The human cast. They all did a great job. I didn't find any of them annoying or useless for once.
    • The 5 autobots. They showed up early in the film and all got enough time to really get know them. Previous films didn't give that much focus to the others besides Bumblebee and Optimus. Hound, Drift, and Crosshairs were great picks and I love their voices/personalities.
    • The darker side of Optimus and the major character development he got. I'd be pissed off too if my comrades were being killed off one by one after all that work to protect the humans.
    • The humor didn't seem forced or excessive. No more potty humor such as the dog humping (TF2), weird bathroom scene (TF3), etc. I laughed a lot during the film.
    • The autobots not really being all that disciplined for once.
    • Lockdown I think is the best villian we've had so far. Loved him a lot.

    Indifferent:
    • The dinobots seemed like an after thought, but I didn't like or hate them.
    • The film had scenes that could have been cut to make the film shorter, but they weren't bad and didn't ruin the movie.

    Dislikes:
    • That bum Galvatron.

The humans turned against the Autobots after the Chicago battle, you see while the Autobots did indeed succeed in taking down the Decepticons, the Chicago fight left thousands of humans dead and thousands more without jobs and homeless due to all of the property damage, and keep in mind that the Autobots were still on their way back to the surface inside the Xantium's fuel cell, so needless to say the humans stopped trusting the Transformer so the military ended the alliance with the Autobots but they were only supposed to make them leave, (SPOILERS FOR AOE BEYOND THIS POINT) From what I can gather, Harold Attinger made a deal with Lockdown, a bounty hunter that was neither Autobot or Decepticon, to help them hunt the Transformers on Earth and in return they would help him capture Optimus Prime and that the inventor Joshua Joyce would get the Seed, a device that could allow him to make more cybertronian metals, Lockdown agreed and said that he would only leave when he has Prime. Attinger wouldn't attack Lockdown because he was aware of how he was already intending on leaving once the deal is done and when he said that the age of the Transformers is over he actually means that the age of the Transformers from Cybertron are over and that after this he was going to retire from the CIA and make soulless drones with Joyce at KSI in order to pursue "world peace", hope this clears the problem up :)

    No.

Attinger didn't attack Lockdown because he had the Seed. Attinger wanted the Seed to give to KSI. KSI would then make tons of Transformium. KSI would make tons of Drones. People would buy a lot of Drones. KSI makes a lot of money. Attinger sits back on Millions for the rest of his life.

Also you do realize they aren't actually supposed to be hunting Autobots, right? That's why they didn't want the Yeagers to leak the story.

What did Lockdown intended to do with Optimus once he captured him and had him in a cell on the ship? Bring him back to Cybertron and let him face justice?

    Why do people hate Galvatron???

After all of the complaining that Welker didn't get to voice Megatron we get Frank now and people think he sucks...In almost Every TF comics, cartoon etc. Megatron has gone on to become Galvatron so what's the problem?

Do you think that the creators are the Quints? or even Primus?

Well given that Lockdown mentioned that their creators weren't pleased with Autonomous Robotic Organisms mingling with Earth, I'd have to guess the Quints. :)

And I mean that in the nicest way. :D

I saw the movie again the other day. Loved it even more, but noticed the flaws more also.

Technically, I'd give it a 4/10 at best. Poor editing, overplaying Battle Cry, score could've been used a lot better, poor writing at times, etc.

However, as a movie to enjoy, it's a 9/10. Loved, loved, loved it.

Just saw it today. I missed a couple scenes because my 6 year old kept having to pee... But I thought it was the best of the 4 movies.

Saw it today for the first time... not quite sure where to place it among the others... it's better than ROTF... maybe on the same footing as DOTM, a little better maybe.

There are things to like, but a lot to dislike too... I just wish they would have gotten a different director this time. So much of it feels rehashed...

So, I don't know... maybe a 5/10... could have been worse... but could have been way, way better (and the sad part is, it really wouldn't have taken that much to bring this movie up to a better grade)

    PROS:

    - New human cast is way better than LaBoeuf and company.
    - Less childish humour.
    - Lockdown is the best villain the movies have had so far.
    - Dinobots were cool for the short time they were on screen.
    - Interesting locations - the Hong Kong stuff at the end if really cool.

    CONS:

    - Way too long... and not by like 15 minutes... but by like, an hour.
    - plot is just more non-nonsensical "chase after the mcguffin" thing.
    - Dinobots were wasted... they never even explain them properly, they just kind of "pop up" for 15 minutes at the end.
    - Galvatron looks stupid and feels out of place.
    - More stupid and obvious product placement.
    - Transformers that don't really have any personality in vehicle mode... these are supposed to be characters, but when they transform, Bay just goes into "car commercial" mode.
    - Transformers that just magically morph into robots made of flying cubes is a stupid idea.
    - So so so many continuity errors... sloppy, sloppy filmmaking.
    - Homicidal blood-thirsty autobots... everything out of their mouths is "kill this, kill them, die, you're dead" blah blah blah... Geez, I related more to Kelsey Grammar, and started to think Prime and his thugs are actually the bad guys here...

My own thoughts on AOE: SPOILER ALERT!

I know i know there are many of these threads, but i'm in the UK (midnight showing ftw) and the movie pretty much blew my mind.

While there are a number of errors, and problems (what movie doesn't have them? Even Avengers has a few errors and niggles) Age Of Extinction is everything i expect and a whole lot more.

Start with the good points first.

(Not really a good thing, but the way it was handled was pretty good and emotional) Ratchets death, man, i nearly cried. When i saw his leg blown off my hand literally went to my mouth. The fact you see his head in the KSI labs getting experimented on nearly killed my insides to.

Lockdown was unbelievable! He felt so intimidating. The sound affects and camera work on him is amazing, and i would hope Galvatron gets the same treatment in the next film (if it happens...Which it probably will xD)

More bot screen time = a BIG plus in my book, Drift calling Optimus Sensei was pretty cool i think. And overall probably my new favourite. Hound was glourious xD so badass! Crosshairs was a dick...but a pretty awesome dick. Bumblebee getting less screen time was good, still got more than the others but he isn't all over the place now.

Optimus in the barn was so upsetting! side of his head falling off etc, him generally being scared of the humans. When he blasts out screaming "Here i am"! however my body shivered, he still got it ;)  Also when him and Bee scan there new modes, gotta say it was damn impressive. Damn Cullen you rock! Peters best work on Optimus by far as well! Don't mess with a pissed off Prime that's for sure...

The Dinobots looked great, wish they got more screen time! this would also be a complaint. I honestly don't think they were needed at all. It's obvious they were added just for the wow factor, which every film has had (Megatron, Devestator, Driller). Few more moments of killing would of been fine, especially on the bridge. I can see why they were defending it, but at least show them doing it. Hope they are back in the next film.

Human actors were great, much better than the previous films, Mark Nicola and....the other guy (can't remember his name), were great! Stanley Tucci was hilarious, hope he comes back. Li Bingbing (still laugh at the name) was also pretty damn impressive. Kelsey Grammar was good, his character i didn't really care for, same for Titus. Not because they were the bad guys, it's just they were the typical bad guys. Killing all Transformers, to help America...not the world, just America -.-really? At least Titus's character had a decent reason (his daughter/wife can't remember which, got killed in Chicago)

Voice acting was great, could easily tell who was talking (not that i couldn't before) and you could feel a sense of desperation, from all the bots in this film, especially in Utah. John and Ken were great. Dimaggio was decent. Bumblebee...didn't here his own voice. But the radio sequences were a lot better xD and as i said, Peters best work on Op by far. Welker was great to, just wish he did another voice and not TFP Megatrons voice.

Humour btw guys...is great! can't think of one bad/cringey moment. Unlike ROTF or even DOTM.

despite all the great things about the film, Yes, even the KSI transformation sequences...i liked it okay?! xD and the many other great things. T he movie did have it's niggles.

Hound and Crosshairs don't transform on screen...Neither does drift for Buggati mode, or not what i noticed.

Towards the end, there was just to much stuff. One battle here, one battle there and ooh look! DINOSAURS FOR NO REASON! (Can't deny it looked epic though) and then to add insult to injury...LOCKDOWNS BACK! And he's sucking up china! ¬_¬ Least his final battle was good, as far as Transformer villains go anyway. Took 2 Autobots and 3 humans to do it! Eat your heart out Megatron.

Galvatron was a very weak character, same with Stinger. I understand why, but another fight scene in China would of benefited Galvatron. Stingers fight scene should of been a lot longer...But this is Bumblebee, when you insult him you get your ass handed to ya xD

I mentioned Crosshairs earlier, yeh he was awesome, but...i just didn't care for him. Had the same problem with Sideswipe in the other 2 film, he was great! Just didn't care for him. Crosshairs is exactly same. he got less development, less badass moments, suppose that factors in but meh, and don't even get me started on Brains. ¬_¬ Unnecessary for him to have survived the KSI raid.

Few animation errors etc. Wolves should of been behind Tessa, Crosshairs clearly said something on the bridge...But didn't. But overall ILM did a pretty fantastic job. Hopefully the DVD release fixes the issues. But honestly what film doesn't have glitches here and there? They weren't exactly in your face, and you have to be actually looking at Crosshairs to notice.

Would of loved to of seen more of Lockdowns ship, some pretty great things in there. Just wasn't there for long. a bit more exploration through the ship to find Optimus instead of just magically finding him would of been great.

I would definitely say a solid 8 of 10. Improvements to the film far exceed the complaints, i'll need to watch it a few more times (which i plan on doing) to maybe notice anything else, but overall...damn my mind was pulsing xD

If anyone has ANY questions, feel free to ask. Again, i know these threads have been done to death, and i do apologise if anyone is just like "ergh" at me at the moment. Most of the threads i have seen on here either say it's good, or bad, without mentioning any if the opposites. Yes the film IS good (much better than the first 3) however there are problems, even me, a bayverse lover can see that.

I'll keep adding to this when my memory jogs up again...typing this at 1 minute past 4 in the morning really isn't helping matters xD

    Fire away guys!

This film just goes to show that the old writers were what was wrong with the series. DotM was far better with the new guy coming on board and this film was an absolute action masterpiece.

The film got the balance of Transformers and humans PERFECT - it felt like a movie about Transformers. The small, diverse cast got ample screen time, characterisation and so much dialogue. You can see where 3 year of development went.

The score wasn't as good as DotM and the film only highlights the shortcomings of "Battle Cry" but, this is a film that deserves some formal recognition for screenwriting, acting and VFX. I just absolutely loved this film. I personally thought that DotM was the greatest action film ever made objectively this film did so much right that it seriously feels like that if people hate it they're trying to hard to do so.

Agreed! Sure it had it's problems but what film doesn't? Can't wait to see the deleted scenes and the extended ones.

Yes, it makes perfect sense! :p  You will have to see it to understand.

His "You think you are the centre of the universe" however, was aimed at Attinger.
