I try not to wast any time when I'm in the shop, so during my short breaks I work on other figures. This custom is just a straight up repaint. Red is such a strong color and I love working with it, so I shot this thing up with Mr. Hobby synthetic acrylic lacquer Transparent Red blended with micro silver flakes. Then added that cool fat yellow stripe on both sides by laying transparent yellow over silver. I used different types of metallic colors here, not to mention different brands. - Tamiya Gunmetal (Enamel) - Mr. Hobby Silver (Synth Lacquer) - Alsa Chrome (automotive paint) used only on the front bumper guard Three thin layers of of synth lacquer clear was applied, and last, I applied polish compound to give shine and added protection.
There's a possibility of that happening, ah hem, ah hem! Thank you. Tol, Salamat sa pag suporta! Will do... Love your work too!
I really wished I could see that yellow stripe a little better. While your photography is great, it doesn't document that stripe all that well. That being said, I think you've made Ironhide look really nice all around. Great job
I guess the lighting somehow distorted the yellow line. I'll try to get a shot of the sides and post it tonight, if not, tomorrow. Thanks!
dude, that is awesome! i love the candy red. if you painted the rims chrome too, the whole thing would just be blingin'. IronHide had just been pimp'd.
This is one awesome little custom, bro. I'm a huge Ironhide fan, so I'm a bit biased, but the paint apps looks great and the chrome really looks nice. The shade of red and the shine are what makes this piece. Keep up the great work, man (been working on my Ironhide for a while also--not sure if I'll go shine or matte though since he's still an old-timer). lol
That is awesome! I wish I could take a month off to paint all my tf's, my Ironhide needs to look like that!
Great work here dude! The color scheme is well thought of and even better executed. And.. pinoy ka rin pala? Hehehe LOL @ a bling-off with sabby
Oh look shiny. That would look really nice done to a Beast machines DX Jetstorm I think. I like the idea of painting the top upper of the foot too - I may borrow that. I prefer a more toy like look though personally for my own slight changes. I find exchanging parts between ratchet and Ironhide seems to give some nice natural looking results whilst also making them more acurate to the characters.
Now that I think about it, it's too damn shiny and wrong metallic paint apps. I'll hand it down to my baby brother and let him deal with it. I should have toned down the shine. Thanks, man. Not really fond of the Beast Machines era... but hey, I say go for whatever idea you have.
