I gotta ask. In your educated opinion, how much do you think BBTS is paying to source each of those Unicrons?
*cough* Hound was originally $150, but now is 230-250, X-transbots Trailbreaker was $130 and is now $200. Those are scalper tactics
TFSource jacks up a lot of 3rd parties, but weirdly a lot of their Kingdom figures are cheaper than TCP, which I otherwise prefer.
Acid Swarm went from $169 to $209 and now $199. Are they doing this to make you preorder the figures because you know they will increase the price when it is in stock? They are doing it with most of their releases. It can't be because of market demand because Acid Swarm is not a demanded figure.
As it continued to sell, they continued to increase the price. They probably reduced it in the same way they increase prices before a sale to make the discount look deeper.
I used to buy everything from Tfsource as BBTS causes the fraud detection people to block my transactions at BBTS... Idk where to buy anymore. Im limited to stores based in the US, and Tfsource's price are terrible, 130 for MMC getaway is complete BS
The Chosen Prime and Toy Dojo are US based stores, both have been reliable for me with a fairly good selection of Transformers. There's also Toy Arena, but they have a smaller selection than the other two.
The Chosen Prime has been good to me. I'm not entirely sure what's up with Terry's TF's as "Terry" seems to be in NY but all the stuff ships from China, but it might be worth a shot.
I used to buy mainly from TFSource, but between their credit card breaches, their scalper-esque prices on anything that they have in stock after their main competition sells out, and the fact that they charge sales tax where I live has me in the process of switching- I'm not canceling any preorders I have, but I'm not preordering new stuff from them. The Chosen Prime has been getting most of my (domestic) business now, sprinkled with the occasional they-got-it-firsts at Toy Dojo and hey-they-still-have-this-at-a-decent-prices at Toy Arena.
Actually he went from $149 originally and his highest was $219, TFS lost my business when they started doing this sort of thing. I legit don't know why they are doing it, it cannot possibly be bringing them any traffic when compared to other sites. They might be trying to compensate for a bad year in 2020 but this is the absolute worst way to do that. All of their sales are actually non sales.
In most states it's the law that an item in the condition it was received is entitled to a full refund within a certain timeframe - in CA where I'm at it's 30 days. When I tried to cancel a pre-order from TFS some time ago they at first were brusque and refused. But as soon as I got nasty with legal threats the capitulated. They knew they didn't have a legal leg to stand on but they still tried to stonewall me anyway. Fuck them.
