TFP Voyager Optimus Prime updated 12/12/12

Im not a fan of how Hasbro did Voyager Optimus but its a good start. I don't know if anyone else has done this before but I modified mine so I can just pull off his hands and push in his blaster to replicate show accuracry. This can be done by cutting a small section off the hands and the weapon. Afterwards you cant tell nor does it make the hand floppy when its in instead of the blaster. I painted the forearms like most out there as well. Put some paint on weapons. I ordered the Reprolabels for him and awaiting that to get here. Once that is I'll be adding some more paints to go with the set. Please be kind in feedback. As I mentioned in my Voyager Megatron post I'm just getting back into painting again.

Im still awaiting arrival of reprolabels kit so Iwent ahead and added more paint anyway. Hopefully they will arrive soon. In all now ive added red to the chest and forearms. Silver to all of the light grey that was on upper arms, hands, thighs, knees, stomach, aroung the shoulders, smoke stacks, sword and blaster, rims, and truck grill

 

sorry for the crappy pics but im no photographer. any questions on how to do this just. hopefully others will enjoy this as i have.

 

pretty good, though for show accuracy i would recommend also painting the grey section directly under the windows, a final pic of my optimus is about to be put up on my thread if youd like to see the weapon choice i went with

 

really dig the slight paint job, what kind of paint and where could i get some.. any tips or tricks you could give me for painting my own figures?

 

I plan on painting more on him after getting in the reprolabels kit for him. whatever is not covered by it, I'll throw some paint on. as far as the paint I used it was rust-oleum painter's touch gloss apple red. I picked it up at my local Home Depot for $4.

 

Hmm, did you paint the inside, outside, or both on the arm? :? I like the way it looks. I went with a more RiD (Original Car Robots/Transformers 2000, whatever) form for mine, and hopefully I'll have some pics up Monday. That looks pretty sweet though. Good job!  

 

thank you. im currently painting up the rest of him slowly. i dissassembled the arm and painted inside and out of it so less of the translucent blue would show through.

 

did you get the reprolabels kit yet? would like to see some pics if you have since i just ordered one for my prime to fill in some details like the vents underneath the windows and stuff like that

 

no im still waiting for reprolabels it been two weeks now so i went ahead and painted some more on optimus last week. ill put up recent pics later tonight. i did some minor paint on the rest of team prime. i get those up later also.
